Ended up living in Rugby 15 years ago. In 2004 I helped set up and became Player/Chariman of the Rugby Raiders RLFC team, playing in the RL Conference. We only lasted one season, but I managed to arrange our first game to be played on The Close at Rugby School - the first ever competitive Rugby League ever to be played in Rah Rah's own back yard. Great day we even got Red Hall to send Russell Smith to referee it.

(Russell Smith - great fella, what ever you thought of his refereeing, he is Rugby League through and through. He'd done the Anzac Test the week before Downunder, Hudds v FC the night before and came down at his own expense just to give something back to the game.

He also appreciated the signifigance of playing the game at Rugby School. Stayed down and went out round rugby with all the players that night too.



On the day of the game I was tempted to doctor all the town signs by adding 'League' to 'Welcome to Rugby - Home of Rugby Football'.

Also did a fanzine that had the Motorway sign with Rugby League junction sign.
