There is a case IMO opinion for him replacing Turner in the halves. Not saying I would do it but if it were to happen, with Long missing, I would understand the reasoning. Turner did well but is young and learning. Difficult call.

Haven't watched the match back yet, but I agree with you. Hall is obviously better at centre, can't drop Whiting or Yeaman, so Tansey into the halves is the least disruptive. I can see the case also for not bringing Tansey back in, but Agar's said the disciplinary is over and done with, and Tansey definitely has that bit extra for me. Very harsh on Turner, but someone has to be disappointed.

In that case, have a rest Mr Horne, we need to try the future half back pairing

That's perhaps the only acceptable way of bringing him back into the side. Turner did nothing wrong and showed some nice touches, but Tansey would add something extra. I was specifically referring to the idea that he might take Whiting's place (or Hall's if Whiting was moved back to the centre).

Yes I agree Whiting/Hall should not be moved in the starting 13 for next week.

| Thought Whiting played well last night and did the job we needed. Without being critical towards him, I did question the decision to name him MOM. He played well, but I don't think he particularly had a great deal to do. Quins kicking game was poor and didn't really put him under preassure, and because they were poor in attack he hardly had to make a string of try saving tackles. He got involved and was dependable as always, but I thought one off Fitz, Manu and the Ogre should have been named MOM.
If Agar wants to really drum home the dicipline message, then he sticks with Whiting at full back, if he decides to go with who is the better full back and offers more attcking options from that position then Tansey should get his place back.

Thought Whiting brought the ball back stronger than Tansey does (not one of Tansey's strengths). Think it was that facet of his game that got him MOM and the fact he isn't a recognised FB. His deft touch when linking for the Fitz try and his dummy run (I think not sure) for Hall's try also helped. There were other good candidates for MOM too as you say.

[uIt will be interesting to see a Long/Turner combination at some point in the future, was impressed with Turner last night, he seemed to take the pressure off Horne which led to Rich having a fairly good game (and a well taken try) too[/u.'"
Nail on the head Turner took equal shares of the kicks and general support, I also look forward to seeing Long/Turner...a young Leon Price maybe strong, and fast maybe...
If Tuner does have potential Longy will be the one to bring it out.

Yup, i wouldnt change it either. If Agar is desperate to accomodate Tansey i'd name him on the bench in place of Houghton. Other than that 1,6 and 7 should all stay the same unless Long is fit which i very much doubt.

| One thing about Whiting last night that i would be critical about was his refusal to take the ball on the full, nearly each kick was allowed to bounce numerous times. Against another team those balls would have been higly contested.

To be fair, I think he was just playing to the conditions and the opposition. Why risk taking a high ball in wet conditions when there's no pressure to do so. If they'd have been chasing, he'd have been up there contesting like he has done in previous FB appearances. And, to add to that, there weren't that many high balls anyway.

| I would choose the same starting 13. I'd give Houghton's bench spot to Tansey who could also slot in at 9 if required and I'd also like to see Moa on the bench in place of Dowes or Cusack.

| If Tansey is to come in, it has to be at the expense of one of the halves.
I thought both Turner and Horne played well, but not exceptional. Turner had his first hit out, which is fair enough. Put in some chip kicks that asked questions, but by God some of his bombs were awful! Horney just isn't much of an organiser and certainly doesn't take hold of a game as much as he used to.
I don't think Houghton should be dropped at all. He does his role very well.
I'd also like to see Moa in for some impact. He needs his first hit-out. Probably for Cusack.

Not sure that resting him just after he seems to be getting some form back would be the right thing to do. Could damage his confidence.
Some difficult decisions this week for sure.

| scenario :- tansey plays at half back and has a stormer along side Horne, do we then leave Long on the side lines when he returns because the player who slotted into his position has had a good game?
for me Tansey at Full back and Whiting back into the centre (or give him a run out at 6) Hall on the wing for Briscoe /Calderwood
and why are some people saying bring tansey on the bench for Houghton? whats he done wrong?

| I'd put Tansey back in there next week without hesitation. Whiting had a great game last night dont get me wrong, but lets not forget Tansey has been one of our most consistent players so far this season and is our no1 fullback. Whiting isn't going to be the long term no1 so I don't see the point in playing him there unless Tansey is injured/suspended. However the dilemma then is, where does Whiting play? Can you drop Hall after last nights display? Agars got some very tough decisions to make next week thats for sure.

| If Long is still out then for me it's simple. Tansey in to the halves and Turner on to the bench in place of Houghton.
Turner did well, first half especially but it was hardly a performance that says you can't drop me. I'd like to see him off the bench and maybe even running from dummy half.

| Thing with Whiting is that he's great as a temp we all know it his utility value etc, it's been done to death but thats it just on a temporary basis. I remember him covering FB before with a good couple of games then having a stinker. I would bring Tansey back but I'd get Denis Moore to tell Whiting he's dropped or send him one of those funny texts people send to say you've been dumped
