Not naive at all mate. As Mrs B has just highlighted there are a number of options open should anything happen with the KC.

| Quote ="old frightful"I've said before, elsewhere, that IMO the only reason the Allams rescued Hull City was to give themselves chance to own the KC and develop the land around there.
The publication of the HDM with them on the front, purporting to be holding plans up of a new stadium out at Melton, was laughable IMO and an attempt to put the possible sale in the minds of the council.
Hull City Council spent £47million building that stadium, it's less than ten years' old, and I bet they'd only get around a third of that in the sale.
I do worry when one of the first things a new incoming council leader says is "We'll let the people of Hull decide whether to sell the KC or not."
Sounds to me like he fancies running a council with some cash to play with.'"
Spot On
I don't believe his "I'm doing this for the people of hull"
He may be worth so many millions but how much has he got in the bank and what would happen if his business went under

I meant naive to believe we're in a strong position because we have a tenancy agreement. they could lock us out and the only recourse we would have would be a long and expensive legal battle

| Quote ="Mrs Barista"What are the scenarios here? I'm assuming that City and FC are the only clubs involved as Rovers are progressing their own ground.
1) Allams don't buy KC stadium as council declines. Allams build a stadium at Melton for City only. FC left as sole tenants at KC with probably inaffordable costs.
2) Allams don't buy KC stadium as council declines. Allams build a stadium at Melton for City and FC to share. KC stadium left as white elephant.
3) Allams buy KC stadium for City to use only. FC compensated but need to build own stadium.
4) Allams buy KC stadium for continued use by both clubs. FC presumably get shafted for a share of the extension costs on top of current SMC payments.
None of these look particularly attractive from our POV.'"
Scenario 5) Call his bluff. Don't sell. Allam will be refused the Melton development due to planning restraints and can't afford it anyway. The whole point of buying the KC is to give him borrowing power. The status quo is maintained.
I feel scenario 4 is the most likely outcome, though. Trouble ahead depending on how much Brady wants to sell and how gullible the people of Hull are... oh dear.

| Another option buys KC, keeps both City and us with current terms. Mortgages stadium so City can by Christiano Ronaldo. Fails to keep up payments on said mortgage and both teams are up the creek looking for a paddle. Scary times ahead if the council agree.

| The referendum is an interesting idea to a difficult problem , but IMO it is a bit of a sloping shoulder option from the elected politicians.
Additionally , what would the voting turn out be like - typically IIRC around 35% of the electorate vote in Hull Council elections , such an issue may well have an even poorer level of interest.

| Begs a question. How much does the stadium need Hull City and what are the alternatives for it's use? Will the rental agreement of Hull FC cover our own matchday costs and more? Similarly, does Hull City's agreement merely cover the costs of it's own presence within the stadium, therefore does it matter if they're gone?

As I understand the situation our lease is with the council who are the landlords. The SMC manage the stadium and effectively collect payments from the users on their behalf (plus a margin for themselves).
Of course if Allam buys the stadium then our lease would pass to him as the new landlord. Whether our lease transfers with the same rental conditions will depend on the exact details of the lease agreement.

given that a lot of funding for the KC was secured because of it's "unique park land setting" etc. then Allam wouldn't get planning permission anyway.
Plus, where is the commercial viability in biulding an olympic swimming pool, is he intending on bidding to host the Commonwealth Games or something?
it'll never happen

If Allam is serious then he needs to turn the SMC into something like [url=http://www.manchestersportandleisure.org/about-usthis[/url or [url=http://www.sivltd.com/this[/url.

Indeed, I'm just pointing people in the direction of (almost) comparable schemes, the swimming pool at Ponds Forge isn't profit making, either.

| whether the allams buy the kc or not, neither hull city nor hull fc could afford to keep that stadium afloat alone.
the allams will want to make asmuch money as humanly possivle, if they buy the stadium then the £100m plus on the "sports village" it would take alot of fans through the gates (aswell as the cafe, pool etc) to get that money back and earn profits.
allam is a hull fan...(all sports) FC, KR and City fan, so he won't throw anyone out etc...
2 reasons there, no need to worry.
