Yeah, bl00dy facts getting in the way of stuff.
Abdull or Washy do not, and can not, provide the same (or anywhere near the same) that Frank provides the side. Particularly as Frank is often thrown in when Ellis, Watts & Taylor are having a breather.
Thompson just isn't that good unfortunately, Hadley is a different sort of player, the other three are very young. If Frank were to leave, we'd still need one more IMO.
Sometimes as fans we're more impressed with the spectacular, and guilty of not quite noticing the hard work a player gets through. Not to mention the massive expectation heaped on Frank, along with him playing differently to how he did in the NRL.
His stats don't tell the full story, but they do tell part of a story. When he's on, he sticks his hand up, he grafts and he's more than effective:
- He made more carries than Ellis or Mini last year, in much less game time. His average carry is better than any other backrower we have, second in the forwards only to Taylor. He made 11 clean breaks, second in the forwards only to Mini (15) in much less game time. 20 offloads, again more than any other back rower we have. He made more tackle busts than Ellis , but behind Mini & Manu.
What you expect from him, and what Radford is asking him to do are two completely different things, and the latter is what he's fulfilling to a pretty high standard.

I dont think Pritchard will impress when used as a prop.Yes the stats may show he makes metres but we wont see the best of Frank until he is moved out to his best position playing wide left and having a centre with him who can take advantage of his breaks and offloads.
You dont see Ben Currie taking the ball up the middle as a prop.He is used correctly using his pace and strength wide out.
The problem Radford has is having Minichello and Manu who both play big minutes but in my opinion are not rotated correctly.
Given a full fit squad I would still have Pritchard and Ellis coming off the bench for these two,and let Frank take the left edge of Minichello.
That way we wont see Mini and Manu out on their feet towards the end of the games and should see Pritchard breaking the line a lot more often.

People can ignore stats all they like but this is pretty conclusive stuff
Them stats missing would leave a massive hole that would need replacing massively
Lose a mini or Ellis after 'releasing ' pritchard would leave us well down on firepowet
I don't get it me! I'm frustrated we don't get the best of frank but I appreciate he's being asked to perform a particular role for us to also accommodate Mini
Next year for me as mentioned by bonaire I'd keep it simple. Spell mini frank n manu among themselves. Keep them real fresh. Especially mini. Love mini but he's got sn error and a pen in him and I'm sure many are due to doing to long minutes trying to play at the pace he does

Good deal for both parties if true, needs more game time. Although would make Hudgell a big fat liar, obviously. How naughty.

I presume that he's getting a new deal at Hull then?
Otherwise the Dobbins could just sign him permanently.

Too busy giving it large for the clapping seals it seems, empty vessel style. Humiliating if he's now hunting the crumbs from the FC table.

| Back on topic, it's been over 3 weeks since AP said we are looking to sign an Outside Back and a Off Half (he said 2/3 weeks) and as far as I know Michaels has yet to sign a new contract. I wonder if we are sticking with what we've got.

Did I mention washy or Abdull doing pritchards role...no,let them play as a ball handling 13 and not the 3 2nd row forwards like most teams do and we have enough cover in the 2nd row to allow us to free up for a quality stand off, which would benefit us more Imo.As for stats I prefer to go with what I have seen of him and I have been vastly under whelmed tbh.Thats just my opinion of him,now he may have a stormer next season and Il be big enough to admit i was was wrong.

If Pritchard leaves (which is what you're suggesting you want), where do we get the go forward from that he provides us (as you can see from the stats)? Does that come from a ball handling lose forward? From Tommo? We have cover, yes, but it's not cover of adequate standard. Do we run mini & Manu into the ground even more?
I agree that we need a stand off, but not by losing Frank we don't.

The bit in bold is what I was eluding to in my previous post.
You're underwhelmed because you're expecting Frank to do one thing, which I imagine is play out wide, make 20m carries, scatter defenders left right and centre etc, but the reality is, Radford has him doing a different role.
You should be judging him alone on that role, not the role you want him to do, but the role the coach wants him to do. Some things go unnoticed by a lot of fans, they tend to remember the spectacular and above the hard graft, which is why I've pointed to certain stats of his eclipsing the other back rowers we have at the club.
Of course it's your opinion, you're entitled to it, but it's not really credible if your only argument is "from what I saw I was vastly underwhelmed". Well, why? Why are you?

Its more likely the club will announce who is leaving first before they inform us of the new arrivals.
probably some of the departure deals have not been finalised yet.
I think there may be one of two surprises in who leaves.
A quality 6 is the priority and in my opinion the club will deliver. They know whats missing at 6.If the fans can see it then the coaches will also, irrespective of what is said to the media.
The Michaels situation seems strange especially as the players were told he was staying.Someone has to go if the outside back or halfback is from overseas.

Im in agreement. I think too many have watched the you tube highlights and been brain washed when in reality we've got a player who stats wise is our most effective and 1 of the leagues most effective. Can ignore stats but in a lot of forward play stats arent open to personal interpretation. Metres n metres per carry tell no lies. And as a go forward pack that the foundation of our success last year is built on I don't get why we'd want to take a massive part of that away. Not to mention the effect he's had about the place off field among players especially as the player bond and closeness has been commented on all yr and hes nearly always dead centre of it it seems
Also why are people banging on about a ball playing 13. We had 1. Was rubbish as a team. Put ellis there. We play better and he nearly wins M O S. Don't get that thinking

I hope your right I think Logan and Abdul may go on loan there a logical choice they need development and game time but are in our plans for the future I think we may ship Tommo out I heard he wasn't happy missing out at Wembley maybe he wants more game time I wouldn't blame him Ross Osborne is another who a loan spell would do no harm, I still think Danny Brough is on our radar he is not overseas quota and if we off load a few we could probably afford him, I think he is quality he has his moments but he is a top halfback and there's not many around, Carlos and Griffin will be our centres and fona will go to wing with Talonoa

Fully agree. The ball playing 13 thing brings back fond memories for Hull fans. The last two generations watched Knocker and later Jason Smith. I think some fans remember this and crave that again, which isn't a bad thing, however for every Knocker/Smith there's a Westy c0cking up the attack rather than adding to it. Short memories.
I understand that people want to see Frank running out wide, rampaging down the channels, I do too. But that's not what's been asked of him, and it's unfair to judge him for it or call him a 'plodder' like Bumpy did. If anyone has an issue, they should put it at Radford's door, as Frank is more than pulling his weight and adding much value to the side.
