no offence raynor the crab but i worked for axis a few years ago and i wouldnt touch them.dont you still have to pay line rental to kc? didnt think they was allowed to offer broadband to hull either?that must of changed in the last couple of years then.

Theyre lying to you, as simple as that, the thing that affects the speed as far as distance goes is how far you are from the exchange, and there is no way is there anywhere in the Cottingham area that is 6 miles away from an exchange.

Dunno, then. Bloody Karoo's fault probably.

I turn the comp on..click connect and it comes on...gets me to where i want to be....download songs ok and get the web pages i want....dont know what the fuss is about....dont have a problem with Karoo personally...apart from when it goes down but that can happen anywhere.

For the average user Karoo is fine, however the problems occur when you trying streaming stuff during peak hours 4pm-10pm youtube/iplayer and other sources can be unbearably slow. Karoo have oversold their product hence the major slowdown at peak times.

Some will blame the downloaders but the fact is Karoo's traffic is shaped so downloading is throttled majorly from torrents/rapidshare etc during the peak times.

I think the main gripe people have is that in Hull and surrounding areas we are limited in broadband options and when you compare prices to BT land they are ridiculously priced and speed is slow in comparison. Even if other companies come in there will be no difference in the service offered, speeds wont go up and pricing will be very similar unless they install their own infrastructure.
