| On the scoreboard it was Hall's goals that were the difference tonight.
Bit unfair IMO to single out Hall for criticism , as there were quiet a few others not performing , the ineptitude of Wakefield certainly helped matters.
The half back combination of Horne and Washbrook - although no where near your first choice - was anonymous.
If ever there was a game for the experienced Richard Horne to step up , this was it , but failed to do so IMO. Is it time to get rid of him too?

| Thought he had a dcent game, thought his defence was goo, make some good tackle and decisions in defence, handling was a concern though couple of balls he should have taken.
Jury still out for me if he stays next year.

| Quote ="bringbackbuck"=#0000FFHall's constant looking for the intercept nearly cost us on several occasions. He's a liability in defence. I am alone in thinking that I'd prefer Whiting's common sense and all round game in the centre with Hall's pace out on the wing?'"
If i recall correctly;Whiting (and his common sense)took the same options last night resulting in another set of 6 against us in our own half also took the wrong option when conceding the try but he doesn't get lambasted by anyone, would rather Hall take that option knowing that he will go the length of the field instead of someone who can't.
Don't think Hall was as bad as some are making out and i get the impression that he is getting picked out for the usually weekly kicking unnecessary and if your looking for someone who is inconsistent then look no further then Tansey.

If its the same incident im thinking of, he had to make a play for the ball. If it went to Wakey hands, they were certain to score as they had a 3/4 overlap. IMO Whiting going for the intercept was a very clever decision, as the only other option he had was to conceed a try.

| I think the problem is many have placed Hall on a pedestal and believe is a potential world class player..he is not, there were a few poor performances tonight so unfair to single out Hall..he is not having the best season and he really needs to sort out his defence which is pants..personally not bothered if he goes next season, he has had enough opportunities with FC to stand out imo.

I have defended him for the last few years, but he frustrated the life out of me last night sticking his arm out in the defensive line. We were [ivery[/i lucky on occasions (especially in the 1st half) not to concede a try due to him flapping.

Correct.
Hall's biggest problem is that he seems to be windy. Always looks like he's trying to avoid any big collisions to me. Away/turns his back on tackles he should be making, or flies out of the line leaving us exposed. That pass he bombed that would probably have led to a try was because he was looking at the defender coming towards him and not the ball.

That simply isn't true. And coming from someone who trumpets Turner as the next big thing at every available opportunity, it's pretty ironic TBH.

But it is true, many on here have touted him as a "future international", "could be world class" blah blah blah. His defence is woefully short of being SL standard. As was said by someone else he's too windy.
Also, having a dig at someone for rating Turner is the most ironic piece on this thread, given your blind defence of Hall sometimes.

| windmill boy is not good enough for super league ?
he'd have trouble directing traffic the way he waves his arms at defenders
ok so the lad can score some great tries (when he gets it right) but i'm sure he will always concede more than he scores.
not good enough and no one will convince me otherwise.
same goes for washbrook if Agar insists on playing him at No 6

One or two have suggested he's a future international. I haven't. And being an England international doesn't qualify as being world class in my book anyway. All I've ever said is that used and coached correctly he has the [ipotential[/i to be a very good SL centre. I still think that's the case, although I'm beginning to doubt he'll ever achieve that potential here.
I've defended Hall when I think he's been unfairly criticised. I'm certainly not blind to his faults and have mentioned them on several occasions. His defence varies from decent to shocking and I'm losing patience with him for not making enough progress in that aspect of his game. But he does get panned on here for things that other players get away with, and he has had some mitigating circumstances that some like to ignore. I hate it when players get picked out that way and things get personal, so I tend to jump in.
The problem with folk on here is that they go OTT about things, and anyone who tries to give a balanced view is invariably slated by one side or the other. I just call it as I see it. Hall isn't as bad as some think, and isn't as good as others think. Life tends to be like that.

| For as long as Hall is coached by Agar and the rest , We will simply see no improvement with him . It's not only with Hall . Other players haven't kick on as they would have at top clubs.

I think that's because Whiting has, overall, been excellent this season. When you're playing to the standard he does week in week out, your mistakes are more easily forgiven.

There aren't to many in Superleague, in the NRL however there is bags of them and that and our dearth of fullbacks are two of the main reasons why we are so far behind the Aussies imo.
Hall is the best attacking centre we have had since Barnett imo.

He also shot out of the line for an interception, missed, and gave the ball back to Wakey. He did this because there was an overlap. There was an overlap because he'd come in off his wing. He'd come in off his wing because the sliding defence hadn't slid properly.
Hall has found himself in the exact same situation several times in every game he's played on the wing. When it happens to Hall, it's all his fault. When it happens to Whiting, suddenly the people who slate Hall can see the circumstances that contribute to the mistake. It's things like that that grind my gears TBH.
AA makes a good point that players who are generally doing well are more readily forgiven the odd mistake, and there's no doubt that 'error fatigue' plays a part in Hall's case, but I just wish that people could step back a little and be more balanced in their criticism.
Anyway - that's got that off my chest. Carry on.
