agar is going nowhere due to the board not having the nouse to see where the problems lie. So he hasn't got the greatest squad in the wrold, however does this stop him from getting the players to back each other up, to offload the ball, to make dummy runs, to run with some aggression instead of ambling into the opposition, to make decent interchange decisions? None of this will be resolved by the players we've brought in, it's down to how the players are being coached day in, day out. agar isn't good enough to be a SL coach and a couple of decent signings since the debacle at headingley doesn't suddenly change that

I don't think Agar is going anywhere and I'll be happy to see him stay - especially if we get rid of Jon Sharp. Agar did ok on his own after both Kear and then Peter Sharp left . I think Sharp is a malign influence. I believe he was responsible for signing Thorman and the fact that he apparently can't be dropped. I also think he is responsible for our boring tactic of five drives and a (crap) kick. He's a waste of space and money and lets get rid.

My worst nightmare would be Agar being sacked and replaced by Sharp.

Agar is building a decent squad. He has a plan. This year is a bit of a transitional year, as there is only so much he could do with the contracts in place. There is a reason the board gave out the length of contracts they do. All signs are pointing to improvement.

Unlike Peter Sharp, who took us to a GF and then continually recruited poor players thereafter to take us to second-bottom. The board obviously lost faith and so did us all.

All signs point to improvement under Agar next year. Judge him at the back end of next season, then we don't have to consider whether to sack him or not. Just whether to renew his contract or not.

All well and good, but a good coach would have been able to get more out of our current side than Agar has managed. Even with injuries.

While you can't argue with his recruitment, there are big questions about his team selections, use of interchanges, lack of tactics, and man management skills.

He's clearly going to be here next season. I expect us to improve somewhat due to the better recruitment, but I'm doubtful about our ability to really challenge unless Agar is capable of raising his game by several notches.

His team next year, will judge him on that.

I haven't forgotten the issues surrounding Agar, but I'm willing to give him credit for some good recruitment. I remain unconvinced by just about every other aspect of a coaches job, however.

I'm also willing to at least entertain the idea that maybe some of our issues have been down to players not performing as requested and that might be sorted out with the changes in play for next season.

ATEOTD it seems to me that like it or not we are going to have Agar as coach next season, so maybe people are just hoping for the best?

Quite possibly, I remain of the opinion he isn't a top class coach so long as he has a hole in his Iestyn. And I tend to think the board agree, hence Sharp being at the club.

During that time we have made the Grand final and the challenge cup final and still managed to sack a coach.

Noble has done an OK job at Wigan.

Thats my position really. I wasn't happy that we gave him a 2 and half year contract in the first place but once we did we have to see it though IMO and give him the chance to grow into the role. Obviously he will make mistakes along the way but I think the current recruitment seems to suggest he has learned what the problems are and is looking to sort them out. If the team are still playing the same sort of rugby when he has his players in place then that is the time to look to get rid by not renewing his contract.

And the 5 drive and a kick. No matter what hand he has been dealt this season it is no excuse for not trying something different.

If your using the board to back your arguement up by saying they have Sharp at the club because Agar cant hack it (meaning Sharp is a top coach), I will instantly disregard everything you say from now on.
