| You must be actively seeking out Dans articles to pass comment on them? Very weird.
Wonder if 2025 will see the first departure from the “Power Board”
Worry about that instead.

We've already had that this month, Ian Richardson resigned according to Companies House. Nothing from the club announcing his departure though.

Earlier then I anticipated.
As long as Neil and Paul are still there, seeing as they own the ground/land. Hull KRs new landlords.

| For me it's very much a positive for the club that we still have an FC reporter/journalist at the HDM. Whilst some articles maybe similar with a little bit of a rehash at times, the off season is always a pretty slow time for new and/or interesting news but, at least it keeps the club out there in the media especially in a time that Reach Group have been cutting costs.
Let's hope for Dans sake and the club itself that the HDM continue to keep Dan on, as otherwise there'd be very little sports news other than City.

Spot on with plummeting circulation and a national base owner it took Dan many months of uncertainty working without a contract to finally prove his worth and get one and that's the sort of commitment he brings. I guess he has to have targets as to the amount of articles he places every week which in the closed season is tough to say the least. but lets face it so far he has given us exclusives on most of our signings, the take over etc way before official announcements and that as fans is all we can hope for. In the end for newspaper owners like Reach its not about service to the community but more its all about number of hits and advertising take up. But his access to players has improved and we have I think suffered in the past with having a Chief Executive who was a media man or at least thought of himself as one which saw the Mail reporters at the time stymied on occasions with the clubs outlets getting sovereignty.
Dan now gets on very well with our new coach who gets the need to keep the fans informed and as Chris says above I think its great to have a bloke who wrote the club fanzine for years and is a dedicated fan as our correspondence. Rovers had the same sort of thing with their correspondence but he looks to have walked already.

| Dan tends to post the same drivel over and over, just rehashed from a different player, but as a Rovers fan I'd take that compared to what we get at the minute, if there isn't a saying that 'any drivels better than no drivel' then there should be.

Hard to say what else they could publish though "training is awful, it's too hard, I want uncle Tony back when we could cut corners"

Oh yer it's definitely hard to keep the interest up in the off season as Wilf alluded too, I'm maybe a bit jealous, (the one fc thing )

| Dan is doing a decent job but it could be lot better.
Usual quotes of putting best foot forward etc.
There’s a squad of 30 plus players.
Dan could get interviews, not just about training and “ how tough “ it’s been.
Ask questions !
get to know the players.
Engage with them get fans invested in the player.
If he’s a fan of the club then sell it.
The more clicks he gets the more it helps his job security.

| Tarquin FuegoWhat if it’s all the same bunkum ? And we get hammered by Cats and Wigan and then lose the next 2 and are 0-4'"
All the experience we all have on here of RL in general and the FC in particular, points to our current predicament engendering plenty of optimism and hope before a ball has been dropped in anger but that experience also points to the start of the season being slow and disjointed but providing the passion and wanting is back we'll have to endure it bite the bullet hold the line and be prepared to see us lose a few. As long as we see progression in the development of understanding and playing together slowly improving as the season unfolds and we start to win a few and to proceed to make our home ground a bit of a fortress, where clubs don't want to visit, then we should all be satisfied next season. The signals and indicators we will look for will be the players demeanour the reaction of the new owners to what unfolds and the way our new coach deals with adversity and tries to help us all hold the line. Its a long long way back from where we were last season but if its going to be a corporate development that inspires us all, then owners, players, coaches and most important of all us lot out there on the terraces watching through our fingers (at first at least) have to work together and not get too disheartened too soon. . Just let's not expect too much at first eh?

I sympathise wholeheartedly with any 'decent' honourable Rovers fans (there are exceptions as this board at times proves) this morning when as I opened the front page of Hull daily Mail sport online there were 6 FC stories and one old measly offering about Dean Hadley visible for Rovers. I'd like to think that all the backing James Smailes gave to our reporter and the fact that at least a dozen people I know (probably many more) lobbied him and the Newspaper Group nationally about FC's continued visibility in the local 'paper' help maintain his presence. I hope Rovers get a reporter (as it will give them something to read about their team and us something to laugh at and of course vice versa) because most of all the game locally regionally and nationally needs as much coverage as possible and the local rag has undoubtably always played a big part in the greatest rivalry in Rugby league.
Any sympathy however ends there

To be honest with you Wilf, I think the fact that you're lot are getting so much exposure in the HDM compared to Rovers is giving some of the fc fans on here delusions of grandeur
Some are actually believing the hype that Dan is spinning, obviously by the end of February when your probably 0 from 4 there will be some fans scrolling back through Dan's articles and wondering where it all went wrong
Thanks for the sympathy and carry on enjoying your rugby, I've no doubt fc will rise up the table at some point, I'm just not sure it'll be that soon though (hopefully)

| Is he spinning hype? I would say not. It's the same type of articles you could read for any club. The players are hardly going to say training is going badly or that we're going to finish bottom.
I guess people read into these articles what they want to.

Encouraging the new owner's saw the rubbish we served up last season and still bought the club.Lot of rumours Kath handed over to AP with a few problems he was not aware of. Don't think that is the case here.
I have no idea if they are expecting to make money after 3 years or how but I certainly feel happier about our future than I did

Good post I can assure you Kath handed over a load of trouble for Adam when he took over and he had to honour some promises made by the departing administration, CE Plummer and all, there were a few surprises too, but several promises that I guess he wouldn't have made himself and a couple of well hidden 'skeletons' I know about .... all water under the bridge so nuff said. As for the new lot, the 3 year bit interested me as well. I am told that they hope to attract a lot more sponsorship investment etc. into the club and they are already on with that with their mates so perhaps that explains the 3 year bit. But we could be in a lot of a worse position and exciting times ahead.... I hope!

Of course it isn't, just a Rovers fan putting a negative spin on things.
Has Dan made any over the top predictions, just things are better which they clearly are after the shambles of last year.

Yeah. From what I remember this time last year AP was talking about that we’d only be attractive to outside investors once we climbed up the table and had renegotiated the lease. The lease is obviously something that’s been mentioned that they’re keen to get sorted but doesn’t seem to have been a major deal breaker for the new owners, at least what’s been said publicly anyway.
The really exciting thing for supporters is that there’s no way that anyone could come in and maximise revenues etc without major improvements on the field. If the new owners want to eventually make this a fruitful investment they’ll be just as determined for success on the field as the supporters. It’s not like a PL football club that you can simply do enough to avoid relegation every year and watch the money roll in. Nothing is a given in sport but on the face of it this seems as close to a dream scenario as possible. Having a rich sugar daddy would be great, but that’s always risky (see Salford and Koukcash) I’m sure the owners with their reputations in business will want to make this a long term profitable venture.
