Did you miss the bit on McRae's & Pearson's statements that said he'd have been on one of the highest contracts at the club if he's have stayed? We obviously had cap space for him regardless of getting Ellis.

Disappointed he's decided to leave, he would have had a lesser role with he arrival of Ellis, maybe that's whats made his mind up?
I'm in no doubt that we've had his best years and I doubt his decision is solely money orientated.
I personally would take Ellis over Manu any day of the week, but I understand those that maybe wouldn't.

I've come to realise something about this, though. When we keep saying about multiple clubs 'How do they keep that squad under the cap?', maybe it's about time we realised that we've just been managing the cap incredibly badly, and we're the exception. We have comfortably the weakest squad of the clubs supposedly paying the full cap whereas there's not a lot between the rest, so we need to accept that we're just not doing business as well as them rather than being cheated.

Dissapointing, but glad it's all over now. He clearly has other motives apart from money, probably thinks he can maybe win a trophy with Saints in his twilight years. Would have liked him to show a bit of loyalty, given the deal we offered, but it's his career and his choices.

We move on! I imagine a big replacement in the pipeline.

I tend to go on the available information rather than winks and nods. At the moment all the available information points to Ellis joining us for less than the highest offer he had from at least one other SL club and Manu being offered more than our final offer was worth. Of course nobody knows for certain, and the actual margins involved could have been small, but the information publicly available is as outlined above.

Now that it's confirmed that Manu is leaving I would like to see us approach Bradford and try to prise away either Bateman or Whitehead from them.

And exactly how much of our cap space is Ellis taking up? To the nearest 5% or so will do...


Welcome to last month.

To be honest now its all done and sorted I think PG & SM with the backing of AP will make sure we have more than adequate replacements for the players that leave at the end of this year.

Its a shame as I would have liked to have seen Willie win something at Hull FC and feel had he would have had he stayed but we will win something regardless of whether he is with us or not as I believe we have the right guy as the Coach to deliver in the next couple of years.

He has already got more out of a team than the previous regime got out them in nearly 4 years.

Such is life, but players come and players go, but we now have some space in the cap to recruit well and in areas we are in need of.

He's going and we have to move on and get over it, I am glad it has been decided now and not led to a Carvell situation.

I also hope that the fans continue to back Willie, he has been a fantastic player for the club and certainly one you will remember in the future.

I can see us winning something before Saints.

I agree with what seems to be the general consensus, a shame but not a disaster.
We're fairly well served in the backrow for next year so hopefully we can channel these funds into more critical areas.

Glad to finally have this sorted.

It'll be a shame to see Manu go and it'll feel strange seeing him line up against us next season, however we will still be stronger in the back row next season.

I wish him well personally but obviously not professionally.

The club need to offer Tickle an improved contract now.

Not overnight they won't and that goes for both clubs

Disappointing to see Manu go but it's been on the cards for a couple of weeks now, and tbh I'm just glad the whole things over with. I certainly wont hold any grudges against him though, he's been a fantastic servant to the club and I wish him all the best at Saints or wherever he ends up. I am starting to get slightly concerned about our squad for next season though, losing Manu, O Meley, Moa, Turner and if rumours are true McKinnon and Seymour, we're going to have a completely new look side yet again. However in saying that, I have a lot of faith in PG and trust he knows what he's doing and what he wants. Interesting times ahead...
