I'm abroad at the moment so only just seen this, absolutely fantastic news!!!
I always said it was never in any doubt once AP arrived and he's come through in style. Finally, the last remaining tumour of the Hetherington 'cancer' that Bomber described all those years ago has been removed, and how fitting it is that he is back at the club to oversee it. I haven't read all this thread yet, but no doubt there'll be some thanking Agar for his 'efforts' or not wanting to take pleasure in him losing his job, but the fact is that Agar was in a well-paid position of responsibility and he failed to perform despite getting many more chances than he deserved, there should be no sympathy.
During Agar's time in charge he oversaw our regression from recent Challenge Cup winners and Grand Finalists to (on the pitch) Hull's second SL team, he produced some of the most mind-numbing and error strewn rugby seen at the club in years, stifled the development of far more players than he helped, knocked several thousand off the average attendance, pioneered new ways of murdering the English language and plumbed new depths in snivelling excuses. Agar's comment that he leaves [i'proud of the culture he has created'[/i only serves to demonstrate how deeply deluded and inept he is.
It's debatable whether RA is FC's worst ever coach, but he's certainly in the bottom three, and if Wakey are foolish enough to give him another job then his will surely become biggest fraud of a coaching career in SL history.
Let's just hope AP deals with the rest of the sorry excuse for a coaching staff in the same way he's dealt with Agar.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Onwards and upwards, Come On You ULLLLLAAA!!!'"
Although I am happy to see Agar leaving his position as coach, I am also like to see a bit of humility and justice once in a while.
McRae's "Cancer" comment came back in 2002, shortly after we had been hammered away at St Helens. Agar came to Hull in 2005 and was never there during McRae last stint. To now claim Agar is "he last remaining tumour of the Hetherington 'cancer' that Bomber described " is incorrect and fairly stupid.
No arguement about tactic, but surely its the players who make the errors, not the coach. As for worse Hull coaches, well in the 30 years I have followed them Tony Gordon, Peter Walsh and Len Casey were by far an away worse coaches.
The "cancer" McRae spoke of was the likes of certain players who preferred to p!$$ away their wages and playing careers. Agar had his faults (many of them) but the club is not considered a joke by people in the game anymore as there is professionalism and discipline throughout.
Now, cast your mind back 10 years when the "cancer" started and remind yourself who was at the helm then.

I fail to see what the year of Agar's arrival has to do with anything, and if you think the 'cancer' that McCrae spoke of was simply to do with indiscipline and players drinking too much then I'm afraid it's you who is 'incorrect' and 'fairly stupid'.
The cancer was Kath and her desire to be involved in team affairs far more than any proper coach would tolerate, while always ensuring she avoided the expenses associated with running a really successful club. Far better for her if Hull FC 'ticked along' in the background for the most part while Gary's Leeds became the unrivalled Yorkshire powerhouse, even, if you believe some of the stories, taking signings from under the noses of FC because of loose lips at the breakfast table. If the 'cancer' had anything to do with indiscipline, it was that Kath wouldn't give McCrae the power to deal with it properly (doubtless because that would mean losing some of her favourites, and, of course, having to pay off their contracts).
Agar was a 'tumour' of that cancer because he was the embodiment of everything Kath wanted in a coach: simple, subservient, cheap, grateful to be there and lacking the ability to ever achieve too much. Agar was her boy from day one and he was always going to get the top job, regardless of performance, as soon as she felt she could get away with putting him in place.
If you think that Casey, Gordon and Walsh were all far worse and that Agar has instilled professionalism and discipline throughout, then it's simply evidence that the club's spin and media management over the last few years has done a great job on a lot of people. It also means that you're going to be in for a very pleasant surprise next season when you are reminded what a proper coach can do.

Lets get one thing straight on this, we both wanted Agar to leave his position as coach.
However your assessment of Kaths involvement is not as accurate as you would think. About 4 years ago I met John Kear and asked him a few questions regarding his time at Hull. Up until his departure he has not issues with Hetherington and was given free reign over the team.
I am not involved with internal club affairs and only if you are could you make the claims you do about Kaths involvement in team affairs.
The "cancer" at the club was that it was seen as an easy touch. The club had been saved at the last minute in 1999 and for the next couple of years many treat it like a holiday camp, hence the lack of professionalism which was within the camp. Don't get me wrong, Kath and Co contributed to it and if you beleive some ex players, she positively encouraged it at times.
You seen to contradict yourself by saying "the fact is that Agar was in a well-paid position of responsibility" and then saying "he was the embodiment of everything Kath wanted in a coach: simple, subservient, cheap". Something doesn't quite add up there.
Much got made of Agar's win ratio but Casey, Gordon and Walsh had far worse win ratio's as coaches at Hull. They also left the club in a state of turmoil (although it could be argued that Gordon was not their long enough to create a lasting impression).
Hull have under performed under Agar and for that I am glad there is to be a change as its long overdue. I am not thanking Agar for his efforts as its clear to many they were not good enough. I am however going to have a little dignity and not revel in another man's unemployment.

Couple of little points:
1) None of the coaches you mention as being worse than Agar had anything like the resources he has had to work with.
2) It seems unlikely (given the rumours) that Agar will be unemployed for long. GB is revelling in him not being involved with Hull any more, not him being in the dole queue.

Perhaps, but don't overlook the fact that he apparently [ihates[/i our departing coach.

Amazing how a bit of "artistic licence" can make someone look far better then they actually are.
Agar never guided us to a GF and as far as I know Jordan Turner started his career at Salford.

it goes to show that Wakefield can "polish a turd" when talking about coaching, ground development and their SL franchise application!

I noticed that. When it was looking unlikely (to them) that he would be appointed, they were falling over themselves to point out how useless he is. As soon as that situation changed, he was suddenly ok and the Hull fans had just decided to pretend he was a rubbish coach out of some sense of personal bitterness.

Think the last 4 years dross states otherwise.
Wakey`s statement about Agar is like an estate agents blurb. When you read it you wonder why you are selling your house in the first place.
