Shows the dearth of decent fullbacks available to SL next year, I honestly can't think of 3 top quality fbs who'll be playing here next year, unless somebody pulls a real surprise out of the bag.

I agree with your point, but I think Tomkins, Hodgson and Hardaker are quality. I think Eden would be if he was playing for a top 4 team aswell. I also really rate Kearney but after him I don't really rate any, unless Patton wasn't retiring. Surprised a Super League club hasn't risked trying out QLT from Sheffield tbh, considering the lack of available talent.

I think you misunderstood my post. The first 3 I put I consider to be top quality. I said I rate Kearney - I'm aware not everyone else shares this view.

Why does it make any difference if they are announced one day or one month before. they are still players in the exact same situation?i personally agree that announcements should be when the season is over though.

Still not seen enough of Hardaker to see if he's any good defensively, and I think it would still be a bit premature to say top quality, personally. Hodgson clearly still has quality and is very good on his day, I just think he's done physically to play enough games to justify his likely wedge.

For me there's Tomkins who is top notch, then Hodgson, Wellens and Webb who were once quality but are now past it, with Eden, Hardaker, and Owen who possibly have the chance of getting there. The rest are just fairly ordinary at best IMO.

To be honest though, if you put kearney into the warrington side, he'd be classed as a top player by the end of the season.

Sometimes having class beside you helps raise your game more.

If L**ds are letting him go then I can't understand Catalans signing him, cannot imagine he's cheap either.

With the shortage of talent around, I would love us to get Matthew Russell on board as a good future prospect.
It would seem that Tomkins is staying put at fullback for the foreseeable, so it might prompt Russell to want a move.

Maybe it is a 1 year contract spread over 2 years

Webb is awful, I can't understand Robinson going for him. He rarely runs the ball back, choosing to throw wild passes to the wingers. Personally, I think he's frightened to take a tackle.

Full-backs are a rarity, it's often a thankless job and more often than not they get the blame for letting in tries. Are there any decent youngsters coming through the ranks at Hull we can look out for?

Shaul is pretty decent, but some way off yet. If he stays in league, then Wrigglesworth could make a useful FB.

But there's nothing immediately, and J. Briscoe is just living off his brothers name.

Can't say I've seen him play full back in quite some time, has always played centre when I've seen him. Jamie Shaul has played there this season and has looked very impressive when I've seen him, Reece Lyne has also played at the back a few times but we all know he's not the answer.

If we didn't end up signing McDonnell, Owen and Eden are the two I'd look at if especially seeing as we're looking at young English talent. But another Cas player may be taking the pish

Jamie was a match winner as a kid , unreal , scored tries for fun . I thought he could be the next Jason Robinson when he first came training with me. I hope he has grown as was small but like Billy Wizz.
