Turners kicking was his worst aspect today

I think the best you can say about turner is that he ran hard and enthusiastically when the ball was passed to him 'out the back' early doors. One good pass for a try but he doesn't look like a threat to me, we should be a top rank club and our half backs should reflect this; he doesn't fit the bill. Did we have the most ineffective pairing of the weekend?

I was wondering how our 2 halfs stack up cost wise compared to everyone else's 1st choice. In the top 4 I reckon

For me Turner is the epitome of all that is wrong at Hull Fc: He's stereotypical, almost cardboard-esk, he has no natural flair or instinct and it certainly showed today.
He works well in a set move that comes off (a bit like Yeaman) if it doesn't come off, he's lost.
We desperately need more playmakers in the side, there are plenty of runners, they just need a lot more direction.

we need to be more well drilled wether players are out or not, is it jusst me or if other teams have pivot players injured they still seem to play in the same why and style, look at huddersfield lost a major attacking player in hodgson and replace him with a player in grix who isnt the greatest player is he then they also lose robinson to injury but they still play some great attacking rugby and look well drilled where as we look completly lost

Didn't Saints get to a Grand Final with one or two half backs missing?.
Even if we had our first choice pairing playing, we wouldn't have won today.

Half back's weren't why we didn't win, our poor discipline was and defence was.

They brought Smith back from loan last year to beat Warrington. Hadn't trained with them all year and came in with a MOM performance IIRC.

Money, and he even admitted it.

I think Turner has a lot of potential, but as a Centre. He's never going to be a half back, you can see that now. It's not a criticism, as I like the kid as a player. Just not at No.6.

I thought we looked better in attack, and in parts throw the ball around better, Rovers are a good side that are well coached, they have the best scrumhalf in the league and a fantasic (again maybe the best) 2nd row partnership.

We really need to work on 3 areas short kickign game, goal line defence and discipline.

If we can get them right we might do Ok this season.

Was impressed with Manu, Moa, O Meley, Houghton, Sharp, Long, Radford (first spell, did he get injured) and Suprisingly Lauaki.

Dowes isn't good enough he needs to go and a few players need to step up.

Lyne is quite ready yet, so hopefully Phelps gets here and Horne is back it will give us more options.

Not too downhearted after yesterday, first game of the season. Glad to have rugby back.

agree with most of that. For me there was not a massive difference between the 2 teams, First 15 we had the penalties and field position and converted into points. 2nd 15 they did the same. After that it was down to discsapline a few mistakes.

2nd half they controlled field position much better and we struggled to find ball in good areas.

First hit out of the season not too bad, we certainly looked half decent ball in hand attacking which after the past 2 seasons we have struggled. Long played ok yemo, houghton, and a few others. Thought we struggled with go forwards a little after ogre went off too.

Plenty of things too build on. think we still maybe 2 players light though

For next week, assuming Phelps isn't here I would drop Dowes bring in Washbrook and play Westerman at LF and Fitzgibbon at prop.

He won't play fitz at prop, fitz will get flogged at loose until we can't patch him up anymore and he gets injured.

Sadly I believe that will be true

Thought he had a very good game. Pity the backs didnt eminate Longs work rate. They didnt seem 100% fit to me. Conditioning problem at the club??

It was clear that many were struggling after the 25/30min mark which is a major concern to me. Your lot stepped up a gear and we were left floundering.

Think we all struggle at the start of a new season but not seen hull fc as unfit in previous seasons. Think if they were 100% score would have been different altogether
