Who are we going to sign.....we wont get Cronk or Thurston..bloody arrogant to think we will...we arent a good proposition at all...id take Smith...very good YOUNG player and seemed to enjoy his stint at Wigan......its not just a 7 though...we need a 6 as well as Horne is shot.

If we signed Smith and he kept fit and led us around the pitch like Head did, I'd be happy.

That's the thing though, I honestly don't think he's anywhere near as good as Matty Head. Like most Hull Fc fans I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong.

Smith is just what you lot need. An organisor with a bit of flair. Suspect defense but you have plenty of people who can cover that. Sign him up if you can!

Dont think he would be a bad signing, not the greatest defence, but thats shouldn't be the main concern for a halfback, just needs protection.

He has a good kicking game, something we haven't had for years and can organise, much better than Long IMO at this stage in their careers, and if signed for a couple of years it would allow Williams to develop.

It is going to be hard for us to sign 2 new halfbacks for next season.

Smith has bags of natural talent but his mental state is very fragile and i'm not sure he is worth the gamble. Superb kicking game.

Losing Long and Horne could be over 200k and replacing them with Smith who we could get for 60-80k is doing it on a budget!

Which is why we wont do it, we'll keep Horne on about £80k for two more seasons, we're far too sentimental.

If we sign Smith I'd go with:

Coupled with Westerman or Whiting at 13 rather than a prop i'd say that's a fairly creative side.

So Horne on a reduced deal, Smith in for Long, Fitz to be replaced internally.

No we're going to use the rest for a top class prop and a top class right centre.

Will Danny Nicklas not be ready for next season?

Danny is more a 6 and is likely to not be ready for SL yet, with his development being 12 months behind due to this injury. Williams is the more likely at the minute but still probably not ready according to those that have seen him more than me.
