I think we could have signed him if we wanted him, it would have probably involved loaning a couple out. I'm sure the club will monitor how he goes this season and make him an offer if he develops further, but think it's the right decision not to bring him in and see if anyone better becomes available. |

Agree I'd have liked to have seen him back next season as it effort and attitude was excellent plus he seemed to have a knack for getting in on scoring tries. That said though I do think he would currently have been a luxury rather than a necessity, certainly be interesting to see how he goes at Salford for the season. |

Regarding Longstaff and the comparison to Lane/Cator you have to remember Longstaff is only 20 so is four years younger than Cator and five years younger than Lane.
I would bet that in three or four years Longstaff will have added some weight and muscle and will be much more effective as a second row than either Cator or Lane.
Rowley at Salford has idendified Longstaff as an addition to his squad and i would certainly trust his judgement
