Why would he be 'chearleading' for Hull FC when we are direct competition for a top four place to his own Castleford Tigers?

Not necessarily, only if the panel deemed the appeal to be frivolous I think the wording says.
ATEOTD the club would need to come up with an example of a similar sending off early in a match and the player getting SOS to potentially get the ban overturned.
The club/player can only enter one piece of video evidence as far as I can make out from the new rules.

You are right. The video evidence has to come from the RFL library of clips from the last two seasons. Not sure what the argument would be; is he not guilty? I think this is one we take on the chin and move on.

| Quote ="Valen"Everyone seems to have an opinion on this one I spoke to a rovers fan this morning who said it was never a red card, I believe it was, it was clumsy and a poor technique the arm was coming around but after the fact, he also seemed to change his angle of attack just before leaving the ground and went in at a higher angle, which made it look far worse than it would of otherwise. I would love refs to be consistent but we also need to consistent in our expectations, if we cant decide whats a red and whats not we are never going to be happy with the referees decision. There was no intent to cause harm IMO but it could easily have done as much damage as the one he was on the receiving end of against Warrington if he had him a few inches higher.'"
But he wasn't a few inches higher, you could say that about any tackle, "Good if that was 5 inches higher that would have been a awful tackle, Red Card!"

It’s a strange one. I suppose it’s possible that whoever gave Radford the controller for that wheel of fortune graphic, sought to blind the world to the obvious try/no try injustices by giving Wells some of the black and white sycophancy pills that James Smailes presumably takes b.i.d.
Alternatively, he’s not forgiven us for signing Danny McGuire, the man who more than any other (excepting perhaps Zak Hardaker) shattered the Castleford dream in 2017. I imagine Wells returning to his small terraced house in Barnstoneworth that night and crying out in anguish to his wife (played by Gwen Taylor in her late 70s pomp) ‘24-6... 24 bloody 6!’ Before smashing up their furniture and throwing the clock from the mantelpiece through the window.
Those would be my initial lines of inquiry, anyway.

I think he felt a moral duty to balance the scales after the insane comments from that idiot Clark, who was probably wearing a red and white shirt. The guy really does hate FC. Well done Mr. Wells for having a sense of fair play.

| The HDM article is clearly wrong...
"the disciplinary process for the Good Friday games will not take place until Wednesday".
If they'd said that any punishment would not take effect until after Monday, then fair enough.

Offences normally get charged on a Monday then get reviewed on a Tuesday. I'm assuming the charges for good Friday were done yesterday, the Easter Monday offences will be charged on Tuesday then all will be reviewed and bans handed out on Wednesday?

I hope he does
Still cant see anything wrong with the tackle. The arms are high accross the chest but well below the chin and head. Its more of a chest to chest tackle rather than shoulder.
The player was up quickly and didnt need attention so there is no way he was hit on the head.

The RFL website says.....
Following the Round 8 Betfred Super League games over Thursday and Good Friday, =#0040FFthe Match Review Panel have issued the following penalties:
Bureta Faraimo (Hull FC) - Grade B High tackle - 1 Match Penalty Notice
Zeb Taia (St Helens) - Grade A Trip - No Further Action
=#0040FFWatts received his "3 match penalty notice" on the Monday.
Watts had until 11.00am on Tuesday, March 6 to challenge the Penalty Notice.

I've looked at it again and there is contact but still not sure it's a red and certainly does not warrant a game ban either given the near whole match off the field as punishment (as already mentioned by others).
Also penalising on outcome is a rubbish way to decide the severity of the penalty, just because a player gets up quickly doesn't mean that there wasn't a more heinous or reckless attempt than one that had a worse outcome but the attempt was just a careless action but with other unpredictable factors (like the Ellis crusher tackle last year which was BS) or incidental contact due to factors beyond physiological control - well unless you remove tackling from rugby completely.

| I am confused about the ban. RFL website says penalty notices (effectively bans) come into force at midnight following their issue - I would assume that means he misses Monday. But with the RFL nothing is ever clear!

| For me it was a needless 'hard' tackle that just wasnt needed at the time. Faraimo has been ted twice and knocked out previously so you'd think that would make him think a little yet then tries to go in hard on someone even though it doesnt seem to be part of his game so imo deserves what he gets for basically being a bit stupid
Oh and it was another needless sending off for us that are becoming a bit of a joke tbh.

All tackles should be as 'hard', as the laws of the game permit.
The only problem with this tackle was that it was on TV, and as I have said, on that other forum, the only reason this one was penalised was because there was an opportunity to replay it countless times. Neither of the officials on the pitch, who were both within metres of it saw anything wrong, and play would have continued had Tv replays not been available.

100% correct, if the referee doesn't ask the video ref to check then they shouldn't get involved. If we want two referee's, put them on the pitch. It's getting like a computer game!

His record stand up well against our wingers in recent years. Hopefully he can get that 20th try. He's played 25 games but obviously never made it past the 10th minute in two of them.
Others wingers in the last fifteen years or so
Lineham 26 tries in 24 games 2015
Briscoe 22 in 30 2012
Blacklock 22 in 30 2005
Briscoe 21 in 31 2011
Best 21 in 31 2003

Oh for sure. His positioning does look a bit, er, random at times notwithstanding injuries to Griffin, Carlos, Connor, Logan etc. Decent enough return with the ball though to say our creativity's been sub par.

| One thing that stands out for me is his willingness to do the hard yards ala Tuli. It gives the forwards that little breather that they need. Overall I think he's been a great signing.

I agree Hessle Roader, as long as he doesn’t drop the ball on the first tackle return, as he did one set after the other in our 25 against Cas.
But overall he’s been good in a season we’re we have been on the back foot.
