Bollox, I'm not Agar's biggest fan but how the hell can you turn this thread into being about him. It's about Horne and his substandard performances this season.

So that takes care of this season what about the season over the last decade ? Face it Horne is never going to be that player we thought he would, time to try him in a different role or get rid.

I notice those who want to defend Horne can only come up with comments like this. He's not good enough in my opinion, I could be on my own I don't care but for me he doesn't do enough and when he does its never consistantley.

If you were reading properly, you'd have noticed that I haven't been defending him particularly.



Horne's been poor most of this season. Whether that has anything to do with his injury and/or health I don't know. But he's been far from poor during his career at the club and you are, as per usual, going OTT on this subject.

The thing is he is one of our highest earning players in a pivitol position and does not bring anything to the team - we have the third worst attack in the league behind Salford and Celtic this is partly because we are carying players like richard horne who is living off past reputation.

This season I'd agree. Along with most of the rest of the squad.

In 2005 and 2006 he was top notch. In 2007 he was one of our best players in a largely average season.

you mean over last season when he was fooking injured???? Ur an imbocile if you think Horne isn't a great player. He's better than mcguire but he has a decent team around him!

Other players are up and coming such as Mylor who are leaving Horne for dead he is nowhere near the top half backs in superleague, unfortunatly he seems to have reached his peak a couple of seasons ago and not progressed since, no improvement on kicking game a nd no leadership skills.

When was the last good game Horne had in the half backs ?

Has he even played one great game which would suggest he was a world class player ?

As an outsider looking in I would suggest it is you that are blinkered as from what I have seen this season Horne is wasted at halfback as he cannot help control a game but is better at being just a supporting player and his kicking is generally below the needed standard.
This isn't something that is exclusive to this season either infact would you say he was more and 'off the shoulder type of player' as opposed to a 'killer cut out pass' type of player?
Now most teams need both halves creating unless you think S Long is going to do everything next year then Horne needs to sort out that side of his game as he has never really had that in his locker has he?
Horne's strength's are taking on a broken line and his support play and as a HB he needs to be doing so much more imho.
And before you start on the whole 'What would a KR fan know about it' BS dont bother because that is all it would be.

Agree with most of that, Horne only looks good with a good LF. Look how many tries he scored coming off Washy 2 seasons ago beating Jack Harrisons record IIRC.
Berrigan created two tries in the second half tonight while playing LF, as he did last week against Saints.
With the injury list as it is why not play Radford as a prop and Berrigan at LF.

Also when Berro is at 9 our forward momentum is stagnant as in complete opposite to Wakey, tonight their 9 was making ground before he passed to whoever was 1st reciever keeping them on the front foot and us on our back foot.

Things change for the better at acting half when Houghton comes on, Lee is too similar to Berro at 9, but is more effective in defence than Houghton.
Radford puts in far too much work in defence to be effective at LF, Agar is trying to emulate Mel Storm in playing it tight and fantasising that Radders is Dallas Johnson



When we did play open rugby we looked very very good and played some good stuff, as they said on sky tonight we looked as though we was in for the try of the season before Brough made THAT intercept, in all honesty I thought Gleeson was way offside when he forced the Thorman error.
Broughton WAS tackled as his forearm was on the deck before the ball came loose and they scored. Two dubious tries IMO.

All in all onother defeat with a depleated side, the forwards dont bend the line never mind break it, Maloney isn't big enough in attack or defence as he quite readily dropped off quite a few tackles tonight.
King is only just doing what is asked of him and no more, Thackery is a willing soul but lacks a lot of technique as a starting prop and is too 'gung ho' to be considered sensible.

For all those that slate Cusack, we have sorely missed him since he's been out both in defence and taking the ball up.
Tickle flits in and out of the game to his desire as he knows he will be staying on for the 80 because of his kicking requirements.
Burnett makes the most yardage when taking the ball up, has good hands and is sound defensively, Dowes does what Dowes does best and is very important to us at this point in time.
Lee tackles well above his weight and is committed to the cause and works his bollux off.
Thorman works too much on the fringes for a good SH to be effective, quite often he was 3rd and 4th receiver tonight and was wallopped when getting the ball as he is too slow, also his passing is rediculously slow and most of his passes are hopital passes and so predictable.

I agree Horne doesn't take games by the scruff - but when has he ever? He isn't a creater as we all know he is more of an elusive runner when in open space. Currently he is simply out of form, like the majority of the side.

Going forwards (next season) i wouldn't want to get rid of Horne but i would maybe move back to FB and get a stand off in to compliment Long.
