Whats the odds on a knee jerk signing next week?

Dreadful, simply dreadful, no other words for it really.

I know the loss of Carlos and Walker meant an ad-hoc reshuffle to the side in the first half, but think it was irrelevant, even with them on the pitch it would have made no difference to an abject woeful display which ranks as bad as anything we have witnessed these past seven years.

We look, unfortunately, like exactly what we are; a low-quality side packed full of low-quality players, whose confidence is totally shot after a series of relentless defeats, de-motivated, unenthused and lacking in conviction, being overseen by a coaching set-up which hasn't a single clue about how to change the situation.

It can't even be dismissed as yet another bad performance within a year which has spun out of control. Seven years of endless mistakes and errors of judgment by a plethora of individuals have brought us to this situation. If the people concerned had set out to deliberately destroy our club I doubt they could have made a better job of it than the one they have carried out since 2017. All concerned should hang their heads in shame at their part in the systematic dismantling of a once great club.

I have been a supporter since 1975 (I guess for some it's even longer than that), the club has brought me many happy memories and some great days , as well as some distressing and disappointing ones alongside the good times, but right now, for the first time in all those years, I feel ashamed and embarrassed to be a black and white. I have never felt this low about our great club, even when we were a second division outfit in 96-97. At least then I felt there was some hope for a future, but tonight I am struggling to find even a flicker of hope to cling onto.

We are in a mess the like of which most of us have never seen in our lifetimes.

I'm more concerned about our youngsters been exposed to our so called SL players lack of effort, desire & confidence. It just wreaks of white flag.

Maybe I'm expecting too much but I'd like to have heard an apology and explanation from the management or owner of the club for that abject performance today.
I don't think I'm expecting too much but as fans and especially for those poor souls that attended today I think we deserve that.

Anger and disappointment doesn't come close to how I feel about the club right now after watching that.

I wonder if the players know or care about the fan's feelings right now.

As I said earlier (Ive watched it back again now, well as much as I could stomach and thank goodness I stopped writing the Dentist Diary!!!) last week I said we were at rock bottom but many said that we were in a worse mess at the start of the season when Smith was here well I'm afraid I have to disagree it feels like the Lloyd years and the Casey days if not the mid 70's but at least then we had seemed to have some hope this has spiralled down for years good players going always replaced by player not quite as good and fans becoming more and more disillusioned.

Thankfully it looks like the game is so far in with a ten years contract with IMG that we will hold the line with no relegation (Adam has told me several times in the past that Championship rugby would kill the club with the KC contract having to be renegotiated immediately and us not being able to afford to stay there anyway and us effectively being homeless). Although on that front after today Deggsie will be rubbing his hands!!!! What a mess and simply heartbreaking for many of us!

Think the only thing that is toxic is that poorly, cheaply assembled playing roster with a couple of exceptions.

Losing IMG points for finishing bottom may be twitchy as others have improved and Hull gone backwards. The playing roster for 2025 is arguably as bad as 2024. Can’t see any light for you lot.

Think the passholders have well and truly been taken for a ride this season, we all paid up front to see a team with a few decent new players.we got new players alright but only one who we could call a good signing,Herman Ese Ese. Who signed these players who we mostly got rid of in no time?, bargain basement signings and is there any wonder we are where we are. Adam Pearson maybe saved the club but he should hang his head in shame after this seasons debacle,some of the signings had cut price and championship all over them.Try selling season passes on this seasons displays,not going to be easy.

He’s already dialled into next season mentally and that’s fed into the players mentality

Championship backroom staff structure + Championship Manager = Championship performances.

The die was cast, even before pre-season started.... Not replacing Head of Conditioning AND Head Physio meant that the squad could not be physically exerted, due to an inexperienced Fitness trainer and no Head Physio. Pre-season training determines the destiny of the club's season.
Smith takes a backseat role in onfield coaching, as Grix is brought in as Smiths successor for the next season (Cheaper) to work alongside Gene.
Overseas recruitment is passed from Clark to a third party ( O'Meley) who then signs out of contract players with a connection to Canterbury and/or Newcastle, another disaster .

TBF, I don't really want a culture of the head coach being dictated to from above when it comes to playing matters. Even if the coach is out of his depth.

The disappointing thing for me is we had clearly turned a corner, fitness had improved, defence and overall performances. I know we've had more injuries, disruption and bans but how the hell has it fallen apart so quickly?

People critise Trueman, but our record and performances with him laying are worlds apart.

Can’t say yesterday’s result surprised me in the slightest, shocking build up, saying the players need to play “like their jobs on the line.” Has Grix not seen how much our players flap in on a weekly basis? How he thought adding that extra pressure like that was gonna solve things proves how far out of his depth he is being a head coach in SL.

Players already have their sight on next season, wherever they will be, their just chomping at the bit to get on that flight to Tenerife in 5 weeks time. Whilst us loyal fans suffer the consequences.

Rock bottom for this club will be when it ends up in the abyss which is the championship, which unfortunately is where we probably ought to be playing our rugby next season.

Unbelievable decision to rest/drop him for this game, perfect game for him and the knock affect to the starting 17, with players all over the place.

We ain't physically fit enough, to play SL, only Aydin, because he had a proper pre season, ironically with our previous Head of Strength and Conditioning.
