I've seen far more certain scores not given. The ball was a long way from the incident and Ah Van was closing fast and would have been challenging to ground or clear it. If the same criteria are applied for the rest of the season I expect to see a few more penalty tries awarded.

Yes, of course we need to check the grounding but the rule states something like 'The referee may award a penalty try, if, in his opinion the try would have been scored but for the intervention' and I think he would of, so does the ref.
