Couple of views from a Wiganers perspective looking at Hull from tonight ...

I don't think Briscoes a FB. He doesn't seem to have the passing game to me and on numerous occasions tonight he was a little ball greedy and ran into dead ends when overlaps could possibly have been created. His best assets of his game to me are his kick returns due to his deceptive power and he's ideally suited out on the wing. McGoldrick would be a better option at the moment for you as he has abit of a background of halfback play and will be more effective chiming into the line.

You guys are definitely having bad luck with injuries at the moment but we also had Finch, Leuleuai, Richards, Goulding, Fielden, Flower and Dudson missing tonight. Its just we have the squad to cope and youngsters to come in if needed. Pearson and Gentle seem to look like they're starting to atleast get you on the right track regards building a squad correctly as Ian Lenaghan did for us a few years back.

Tom Lineham looks a cracking prospect, very strong runner of the ball. I think you'd be stronger with a starting back three of

1.McGoldrick 2. Briscoe 3. Lineham

Foster doesn't add much to me, never really rated him all he seems to have going for him is his kicking game. With Lineham and Briscoe on the wings your forwards would be getting a real good helping hand in making the metres.

To be fair to tinkerman23. He, like most of us are really frustrated with our constant injury situation. Its got to be part down to sheer bad luck and some conditioning issues & tackling techniques etc.
As for seymour / nicklas & mcgoldrick etc, We cannot expect them to shine when our forwards are getting mullered !

I mean that in my opinion Moa, Puletua and tonight Westerman all put in good, hard, solid hits in a contact sport. The kind of hits I love to see and will get out of my seat and applaud. Moa was sent off, Puletua was sent off, Westerman will receive a ban - all because Stevo and other assorted muppets want hits like that banned. Why not stick Velcro round their s and play touch rugby I wonder?

IMO there was no malice in Westerman's challenge it was just one of those collisions were the timing is slightly off on his part and Luakai was unfortunate. Westerman put exactly the same shot on Mossop (I think it was him) from the next kick off and got his timing spot on.

If you look on YouTube for great rugby league hits (sad I know) most of the best ones would now have Stevo et al calling for long bans and red cards. There's one from Awen Guttenbeil for NZ Warriors (later Cas) that I could watch all day long. If somebody did that in a televised super league game ATM then Ganson/Child would have a long discussion with Ian Smith while Stevo rants on about getting this sort of thing out of our game, then he'd be sent off or put on report, and then he'd be banned.

The game is being sanitised by people who either don't play or have played in a totally different era. The players and fans should have more of a say in how the game is run. IMO

Deliberate, swinging arm contact with the head is dangerous, malicious and rightly banned. See Turner at HKR last week.

But a straight arm tackle where a guy is ducking into it and cops it is just an unfortunate by-product of a physical game.

Didn't get to see the match tonight as was working and couldn't listen either.. But some customers said westerman gave a good hit on lauaki and could cop a ban. If anyone has a link to it (crack on lauaki) send me it please.

After reading recent posts, I agree that briscoe should be moved back to the wing. I Don't rate him at full back. I'd prefer him on wing.

Morley has based an entire career out of tackling the head and our Sky friends worship him. Westerman's challenge tonight was in no way malicious but he'll get done because there is a fashion at the moment in the game and a big fat bandwagon is rolling. Much worse challenges have gone unpunished regularly in the fairly recent past.

Think sky might get rid of stevo if he carries on the way he does, banning the shoulder charge would surely be the end of rl as we know it, I think the biggest draw for getting new supporters is the physical nature of the game, that's why I love it, this great game struggles as it is, we need to keep attracting new spectators, more support , more money from the likes of sky, turning the game softer! In my opinion would be a disaster, think moa's hit out of the 3 mentioned was the only legal one, in my opinion!
