Easiest way to work this out, add the quota and non fed together, so a max of 10, then give each player a point , so some players count as 2 points, some as only one

ie for us

Ogre - 2 points
Fitz - 2 points
Hame - 1 point
Moa - 1 point
Manu - 0 points

So we have room for 2 more , do we not

As a Union convert i think Pearce would count but surely common sence should prevail given his age.

The best way for me to work it out is forget the quota. All aussies are classes as overseas trained (non-fed) and all tongans etc.. are non-fed trained.. Unless you get any over at the age of 18 (not likely) so they spend 3 yrs with you before their 21st birthday (that's the ONLY way they become FED-TRAINED)

The only thing that people seem to be getting confused about is that any player already here 'PRE 2008' are omitted from this ruling so if a club (Rovers for instance) have 4 non-fed players pre 08 then they are exempt from the system for the duration of their contract. When they are retired/transferred they instantly become Non-Fed and the club, Rovers, will not get the extra spot back. It will all level out in 2/3 yrs ish!!

That wont work because even though some count as two points, you can only have a max of 5 in any category.

I'd assume we have 2 Quota (ie Aussie/Kiwi) but 4 Non Fed, so in order to fit 2 or 3 more in we'd have to find at least 1 or 2 Quota players that are Fed Trained (or came under one of the assorted RFL sanctioned exemptions). Pearce may bring that down to having no Non Fed places left.

Pearce has beed trained in our Federation so shouldn't come into it!!

We shouldn't need dispensation as exatly how you put it... Lovegrove learnt his trade in Australia, Pearce is UK born and learned his here. Pearce is fed-trained!!

That is correct, IMO. Pearce is still only 20 isn't he? He'll be club-trained until 21 I believe and then should [utechnically[/u become non-fed. What happens then will be interesting - assuming he is any good. Converts to RL from other sports are going to be non-fed unless they convert at or before 18 - irrespective nationality (ie even if British). Not such a problem in football with 17 'non-fed' spots in each squad - and how many converts reach the top elite level anyway?

They don't have dispensation!! They all have EU passports (in one form or another) so they are non quota. The are exempt from the Non-Fed list because of the PRE-2008 rule!! That's all.

When they leave, Rovers will not get a Non-Fed space back. Those are taken up by: Dobson, Green, Mason and Clinton.. They have one left!!

Pearce is a sticky one i suppose (but also a rare case. Maybe that's a reason why he hasn't played) Question for the forum then i reckon!!
