Anyway, 2 of our best players went off in the first 15 minutes, including our top try scorer and our only organiser. Surely that can be a mitigating circumstance?

hopefully, just a concern we cannot finish teams off when we have them nilled with 14 points on the board.

No excuses for the Saints game but last night we lost Obst and Yeaman within minutes of each other and that's when we started to lose the plot. Not too surprising that the loss of our only organiser and our top try scorer, along with the resultant disruption as players moved around to accommodate those losses, caused a drop in intensity and form.

At least we recovered. Not too long ago we would have gone on to lose from that position.

Just thought it worth a mention that Sharp on the bench turned out to be a genius move.

A few teams have started to name an outside back on the bench this season instead of an interchange hooker. Houghton is looking good playing 80 minutes so its a tactic that keeps working for us.

Having watching the highlights on SLTV, longer then the Super League Show's efforts, I have to say our build up for each try was really good! We are starting to have much better support play and off the ball runners, something we have lacked desperately.

Houghton's scoots and passes from dummy half are progressing, too. His pass to Manu to set up Briscoe's try was brilliant, missed out both Ogre and Moa and into the wide space. Also picked out Radders for his try! Good stuff!

Good post, I think peoplr have been a bit harsh and over critical of Houghton this year (mainly after he had a good game against Saints), he played a big part in the 2nd try and made the 3rd and 4th tries with some great passes, he isn't perfect but is delevoping into an excellent hooker.

Should be in one of the England squads, I wouldn't swap Houghton for any other English hooker apart from roby.

Indeed, and as I have questioned before, why didn't we start the season like we are playing now?

The Martin Gleeson effect !!!

We've added Phelps, Obst, and Gleeson since then. Plus Horne back and getting some form.

thus trebling that actual thought process on the island!!
Obst and Gleeson have had a massive effect beyond any doubt !!
And Horne improves game by game and looking good too.....

Having genuine cover at 7 has helped and we have added a bit more creativity in Westy. Plus I think Gleeson´s presence has tightened up our defence enormously.
