Calling a player a leader and claiming that we were a 1 man team because of them is a completly different issue.
Cooke was a leader within our side, but when you factor in the fact that we had players of the ability of Swain, Kearny, Horne, Briscoe, Yeaman, Brough & Carvell in our side that season, then we were anything but a 1 man team.
Shaun Edwards and Alfie Langer were leaders of great Wigan and Brisbane teams respectively in the late 80's & early 90's, would you describe those clubs as been 1 man teams during that period?

| Paul Cooke would love to come back to Hull and there people at FC who want him back. They have tried, Sir James who gave his word "he would never play for FC whilst I am here" and that stands.
I feel sorry for his house crammed full of old playing shirts etc for a testimonial that he will never have. Even if he does have who now would want a shirt with the Words "COOKE" 6 on, even the 2005 final shirt would be vastly cheaper then say Rich Hornes. I might add it was Horne that spotted the chance in the dying minutes of the 2005 final to his left, dummied and passed for Cooke to score.
Paul Cooke and his "advisors" made his bed, he has to now lie on it.

| If he doesn't regret it, then he's clearly a total fool. Simple as that.
It was probably one of the worst decision made by a rugby player in recent memory. Part of me actually does feel sorry for him. He could have been a great player if only he had recieved better guidance and he knows it. You don't get a second chance to be that great player. [uHe's[/u blown it, he's knows it, and the truth must now hurt like hell.

| Quote ="Dave K."He has a big influence while at Hull but to say we where a one man team is incorrect, for eaxample watch the 3005 challenge game against Bradford at home, our forwards (Thacks, Carvell) etc where superb against a fantasic pack, without them we wouldn't have got into the postions for Cooke to set up the trys.
Also our 2006 campaign was built on strong defence, did Cooke make all these tackles.
Any one player can have an influence but he can't do it without massive help from his teammates, any who says otherwise hasn't watched the game close enough and can't have played.'"
Of course other players had an influence, some a massive influence, but Cooke was our only dangerous attacking weapon, without him our backline was pretty much useless, no way would we have won the cup or reached the grand final, look at the dip Yeamans form since he left, we still havnt replaced him, that's why we play the dross we play now up the middle.
Cooke will regret leaving and I hope it's ruined his life, but we regret it just as much.

| believed his own press, was a good player no doubting that but he turned his back on the club that gave him the stage to show that, when he signed for his 'boyhood heroes' he did it in a way that will never be forgiven by most fc fans how many taunts did we hear from the red side of the city? well Mr. Cooke it backfired on you eat a bit of humble pie and try in the championship for a new job, I for one have no sympathy for you

| I realise this is not going to be popular; but how about we offer him a contract? Some kind of pay as you play given our problems at halfback. Or is he really that much of a bad influence or a bad egg? He's down on his luck, can we not offer him a route out, short term contract where he has to perform and fulfill his training obligations to be retained?

The shirt is obviously a relatively valuable shirt (alot less valuable now). However, it is framed and signed by the full CC 2005 squad ON THE FRONT. It's only me, and everyone on here now , that know it's a Cooke shirt.
Also, i'm not with her anymore but doesn't mean i'll change my feelings regarding PC...
Well spotted tho In hindsight a deliberate mistake!!

You want to offer a contract to a bloke even Wakey don't want?
He's crap, he's an awful influence, and our CEO would have to resign. We might well lose one or two players over it as well. Not to mention a number of fans.
Worst idea ever.
