Interesting to hear Rowley speaking pre match about recruitment structure and players with potential. His thoughts on players needing to want to work hard is key and if they don’t it’s a waste of time trying to coach them. That seems to be our big issue that players just aren’t committed or want to work hard enough.

Also interesting to note them claim Salford have a couple of signings ready to announce for next season.

Look at Tyler Dupree, released by Leeds, season at Widnes in the championship, picked up by Salford so he can prove his worth,now named in the England squad. There are quality players out there who won't break the bank, we just need to be better at finding them, it seems our scouting team just type in 'best of kane evans' on youtube and hand a deal out

To be fair a lot of Salfords strength is the ability at bringing players in that whilst not being world class stars have points to prove are willing to work hard and have the right attitude. At Hull it just seems to have been an easy life for too many players living on past history for too long and that attitude and the lack of desire to graft hard has infected the squad.

I'd have said a few seasons ago that the club wouldn't have needed to make wholesale changes to reset the attitudes etc but its gone on too long and too many have been in and around the club with the wrong work ethics that only a major cull/overhaul will change things.

I don't think its a coincidence either that performances on the field and recruitment has been poor since AP streamlined the club off the field.

Lets face it its not going to be hard improving this current squad, plenty of players out there with the correct mentalitys. Im sure Smith has plenty of contacts and can do thorough research into players characters. Something weve struggled with

I can’t believe a club of our stature, with the fan base it has, has got itself into such a state that the majority of the squad isn’t fit for purpose.

The fact we threw silly money at Reynolds and Evans says it all about the mismanagement of the squad.

We keep getting compared to Wire, but they only brought in half a dozen players this year.
