According to someone on the Leigh site a few days ago when this possible news broke, it was considered that he would be going back to his roots & he could start to planning for the future by going part-time.

Very bad week for people ' in the know' Galea and now Mcdonnell

For me, the bad news of signing Galea has been offset by the good news of not signing McDonnell. Now if it turns out we're not signing Crookes either, I'll be dead happy! Other than a high turnover, I've not seen much improvement on recruitment/retention under Gentle/Pearson so far. I just hope there's some surprises about to be unveiled.

I'd have taken McDonnel to be honest.
If we're not signing him, I wonder what other fullback we could possibly have lined up.

Maybe the plan to se Richard Horne at full back is still in place.

Boots 'N' All.... Phil Clarke's opta stats have placed Rangi Chase in the 6 jersey for the opta team of the year, despite playing something like 10 games less then a lot of other half backs. Really, really hope we pull this signing off and I think it would boost us up into the top 4.

Personally, I just can't see it.
The coaching staff must know that Horne cannot go a season without been injured. We need a consistent team and having to swap fullbacks every month won't benefit us.
I aren't one of the Horne-bashing group, but it's inevitable he is going to pick up some knocks and miss a fair few games.
Warrington get by with Hodgson because they have better full back cover (in Ratchford and Riley) then we do.
