am i missing something...not being funny but weve desperately needed half backs for years,ones with good kicking games,ones that free up the three quarters,ones that take the game by the scruff of the neck...we have some very good players with the glaring omission of half backs...so why the hell do we continually go and buy in other positions? frankly some of the suggestions for our half backs on this thread..fills me with absolute dread..i really am at a loss trying to fathom it out..surely its not that difficult for the club to see what we are painfully missing!?

It was puzzling I agree. I think Heremaia's kicking game was maybe crucial to the decision to bring him in. Plus on the odd occasion Obst has played at hooker he had had little impact.

I said at the time we signed Obst that I expected it to be a Ben Jeffries to Bradford type move. Good in flashes, but promoted beyond his ability if you expect him to be regular half back for a supposedly top 8 team. When he arrived his enthusiasm caused him to stand out briefly, but he is still not what we need and we now appear to be committed to having him for another year, probably as our starting scrum half. The top 6 must be bricking it.

As a back up player I don't mind him in the squad, not as a starting player though.

I don't mind him in the squad as such, but I do think that a transfer fee and having to offer a 2 year deal should have been enough to make us think he wasn't worth it. I'd have sooner seen us take a chance on a younger, British NL player for a year.

Will be interesting to see how Moore now goes at Wakey, if he's any better or worse than Obst was for them in the halves.

Mainly on hullfc.tv but I did see him live the last time I was home.
