Why is it different? Raynor also lets the ball bounce every now and then, putting the team in danger of not regaining the ball. Raynors a better winger tonys a better fullback.
So I don't see how the situation is totally different?
Just out of curiousity, was/are you a big fan on Briscoe?

He might be back at hooker next season.
If we fail to sign a quality centre then what chance Berrigan playing there?
Some intresting decisions to be made in the months ahead.

Is it different as we are talking about who to sign and who to release Tony's contract is up Raynors isnt.
I liked Briscoe, but also rate Tony, I can see the benifits in both players, but really dont want to get into that argument again.
If Tony was playing like he did in 2006 then i would no problem offering him a new contract, however he has only played a couple of times in a season and a half, he has had a couple of serious injuries lets see how he does int he next month. But we cant wait for him to prove himself as we might miss out on another fullback.

Tony won't go to hooker. No chance in hell, when we have Lee and Houghton who are both very good prospects there.

Hopfully none, would be wasted there IMO. Also would rather see Briscoe or Hall there.
If Berrigan was moved we have Lee and Houghton to step in.

| Hard to say who I would keep until I know who is coming in. We need to keep the squad balanced so once we know who is coming in then it's easier to decide who to let go.
If Tony wants to stay I would sign a centre, if he wants to leave I would sign a fullback, either way I reckon Thorman will be gone and Horne and Long will be the halves combination.

I seem to recall an interview with him in the programme against Wakey
where he said if the club want him to stay then he would be happy to stay.
Just a case of wait and see i guess.

If Motu leaves i think it will be a shame hes a great utility player.
However if he does and he goes back to the NRL which fullback spot do you see him taking over there ???

IM A MASSIVE FAN WOOOOO WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOOOOOOOOOO BRISCOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On a serious note the only thing i see better in tony then briscoe is his return of the ball.
Positional Play NO This one a rate highly no point been nearly there.
To many times ive seen Motu just out of shot when its try time for the opposition.
When watching rovers this year briscoe is always there he might not always save the try but you have to be in to win it and that last ditch tackle might just save you a try and id say 50% of the time he does.
No point been out of camera shot thinking "i should of been there"
Defence NO
Catching The Ball NO
Support Play NO Horne and briscoe had a miles better understanding briscoe was always floating about the middle of the park looking for the half break and when there was Boom!!!! Try Time
When have you seen that in the last few years on a regular basis?? NEVER
This is all my opinion of course

If Motu was offered contract he would stay, he and his family are settled here and love the club and the area. But at the moment he has had no discussions with the club regarding a new contract.
IMO I would be happy for the club to release other players and keep motu as our main utility player, providing we do sign a full back.

Pretty much how I see it as well. I'd want to see plenty of evidence of a return to form and absence of injury before thinking about another contract for Tony, and I'm not sure we have the time.

Utter nonsense! Most Hull fans have been lucky enough to see many better fullbacks than Briscoe play for us. Kemble and Prescott could both sprint to a high ball and catch it diving. They were both fantastic under the high ball AND great in attack. I'm not suggesting we'll find an equal to these players easily but a fullback who's not great under the high ball is not a fullback. I'd love Motu to stay with us as a utility impact player but not as fullback.

not bad but wouldnt say excellent Briscoe imo, is better one on one
Briscoes on the line defence is 10 x better also but thats more about reading the game better to be in that position in the first place.

Was one of Briscoes weakest points and although it's improved Tony is better.
In attack Tony is far superior to Briscoe who still looks clueless when receiving the ball in an attacking play. Tony's balls returns are much better too.
In defence Briscoe is far superior. In our team at the moment Tony is far more important to us due to the lack of attacking options we have.
