Surprised that people are putting a backrow of Galea, Ellis and Westerman because I thought our terrible start was down to only have 2 props on the pitch at the start. We looked far stronger down the middle when Pitts was on the pitch and then Johnson impressed when he came on as a 3rd prop.

Galea needs to improve his fitness before getting in the 17 IMO.
Westerman needs to consistently perform from round 1 or be replaced in the 17.

I don't get what Westerman has to prove? He was consistently one of our best at the back end of last season, played very well against Cas and was by no means the worst on Sunday.
I'm just glad Gentle appreciates him, as he's said countless times.

The great thing about this thread is the number of options that Gentle has. I don't remember us having so many options in so many key positions for years at the start of a season.

marginally, crooks made too made basic and silly errors

long as seymour and holdsworth start in the halves and heremaia and houghton share the hooking role i'll be more confident of a result at headingly, 1st game of the season is usually hard to call and quite often you see strange reuslts

I thought Arundel went well on Sunday. His tackling technique is strange which is why i think some people are a bit suspect.

He' s been the best half back so far in pre season and we look alot more organised with him and Holdsworth

Being a gambling man, I'm quite happily going to snap up the ten start that Skybet are giving us. As you say, anything can happen in the first game of the season.

I couldn't get to the friendlies due to a number of reasons, but a few people have spoken well of Brett Seymour. If he's playing well then he's in. Holdsworth and Seymour for me.

Always thought Houghton was at his most dangerous when fresh against a tired defence. Watts and Tickle to replace Johnson and Galea in starting 13 when fit.

Do we think Whiting will play against Leeds then? Depends on how many minutes he plays tomorrow and how he pulls through I would have thought. Can't see Ticks playing.

if Whiting is fit a definite in the 17 and my choice as Loose man and drop Pitts to the Bench, would have O'Meley coming off the bench as well, no real impact off the bench otherwise. Shame Watts is missing.

Odd bench? I can see Seymour if you want Azza to cover hooker, but Lineham? And no Whiting/Pitts?

I've always thought an out and out winger is a waste of a bench spot?
