What a ridiculous thread, are you seriously slating the club for not signing a player who was never really available to us and who hadn't stood out up until a couple of weeks ago.

I remember a time when Greg Inglis was 12 years old and playing for his school team, we should have seen his potential and signed him up when we had the chance, damn you James Rule.

I thought that as well tbh. Every time a player has a good game, we slate the club for not signing them. Of a squad of 25 we need at least 8 homegrown players so can only get 17 players. It's very easy to just start a thread about any of the the 200 odd players in the competition who have a good game each week and complain about us "missing out".

Or have friends in high places.

Lets put it this way, how many of the half backs Leeds have released have gone on to be decent SL players

When i saw Luke Gale and Gareth Moore playing in Leeds Rhinos reserves it was Moore who impressed the most and his name has been linked with Hull for a while.

Gale seems to be maturing into a fantastic player. I was hoping Hull would give Moore an opportunity too.

What we need is an English coach with his finger on the pulse who can see these young british prospects whether in the lower leagues or wherever , someone who really knows the British game inside out and.......................................................................

Hey another chance to bash the club about something, woo!

Gale looks to be a decent player along with Hanbury at Crusdaers.

There's a few decent young halfbacks about... but not many.

FC have many failings but not developing youngsters isn't one imo. We dont produce half backs but then who does.

We may produce or find youngsters but how many FC sourced/produced youngsters have gone on to international/top class level? The majority of England players come from the "big" clubs. I think we should be able to compete with those big clubs on all levels. We should have a structure that allows us to find , attract and develop players into the international generation on a regular basis in the way that Leeds , Wigan and St Helens do. Tom Briscoe is of course one success , Reece Lyn may become one though both have plenty of competition from other young players coming through in numbers at those clubs mentioned. Prior to that we probably go back to Yeaman. Either our set up isn't good enough or we accept we are "unfashionable" or the people involved aren't getting it right. The current England under 20's once again is dominated by the big clubs with Wire now supplying a few as well. I accept this has little to do with Scott Gale and I am taking issue with the notion that Agar is somehow some font of knowledge of the youth game and some latter day RL player Svengali. He's probably no worse than previous coaches on that one but it's constantly flagged up as his major asset by those that are pro Agar and I see little evidence of it. Alternatively he's not spending enough time on it and perhaps that development work should become his main job leaving the coaching to someone else.

i mentioned Luke Gale as a possible signing for Rovers at the back end of last season before we signed Blake Green, but he was kind of shunned though, always looked a good prospect to me though.

Hull are reasonably good at bringing through youngsters but not many make the starting 17. There are so many players now and in the past who are at Hull and represent England through the age groups. Over the last few years we've lost alot of players from the reserves due to not making the step up even though they played for England since they were 16 and highly regarded. Danny Houghton was top gun in the England set up for 2 years running and we had another 5 iirc in that squad yet Houghtons the only one who has made it.

Thats where we struggle imo making the 18 year old internationals into SL players. I don't know why as they certainly have the potential, maybe due to pressure.

While I accept that we can't sign everyone and hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you can't moan or use the excuse that there arnt any decent halfbacks around, I'm sure Gale was mentioned on here a few years ago and people said if he was that good Leeds wouldn't have let him go, Quins took a chance and are in a better situation then we are in terms of a decent long term halfback, same goes with Gareth Moore I'm sure someone will take a chance on him soon, while we are probabally still searching, who can honestly say if that happened the club wouldn't deserve a "bashing", could say the same with Briggs.

Nail on the head, Briggs, Gale and Moore all played in the same Rhinos reserves together for a period although Moore is a year younger. You may remember the Academy Grand Final at Hull when Leeds won by 0-1 at the KC. Gale kicked the winning drop goal that day. Out of the three Leeds kept Moore and the other two headed to Donny. Gale has improved immensly since he was at Leeds with having Super League experience and full time training, although he does not / did not have the skills that Moore pocceses he has improved no end. Briggs has also raised his game and will also / has also appeared to have made the step up. The three of these probably have more to their overall game than Burrow, who aside from his speed does not poccess these players all round skills. Leeds as a club do not have anyone below Burrow who is anywhere near these players in quality and if Burrow gets injured they will be in real trouble.

Think you'll find that's Agars fault
