Leave British Gas they tried it on with me a couple of years ago More than happy with E-On as my provider now, you have the upper hand here you can choose who is best for you, go onto a comparison site and have a look

excellent. i'm with npower, paid £35 per month and finsihed the year in credit too. they dooubled it to £72 but i'm puzzled too. time for price comparison..

To get an accurate result from USwitch you need to know the name of your tariff, how much you pay etc.
Also, if anyone is in financial hardship you can qualify for the Economy tariffs, there is a myth that there is only Economy 7, you can actually get up to Economy 24.
Anyone who is a local authority or social tenant should ask their landlord for the energy officer to meet them and show them the best tariffs they can get, I regularly get people on benefit access to bills that are some 70% lower.

| I am an authorised distributor for UTILITY WAREHOUSE. Before I became one (and switched to UW for gas and electric) I was BG for gas and NP for electric. My combined bill for last October was in excess of £130 per month... my combined bill for thisd October is £76 and I am in credit by app £55, therefore halving my bill !!. and there have been no changes to my usage. Anyone interested in switching and making real savings, PM me. Britsh Gas and N-Power are a rip off and you will never, never be able to get any sense out of them, or understand your bill. I will be happy to give a free, no obligation consultaion.

And can I, with respect, tell people to still check their own information. Utility Warehouse is pyramid selling to a certain degree, you have to ask yourself how the agents get paid, a levvy from the charges you pay.
E-On are about the best utility company.

Actually Chris, they cannot do that, if you have credit the are obliged, BY LAW, to reimburse you within 28 days.

Very unusual, we regularly get refunds from Eon and NPower sorted without a confirmed reading, it's not as if you are leaving them to become a customer for someone else.
I'll dig into the legal pack I have and see what I can find for you.

The info is in a leaflet actually (looking into it again) and it says they "automatically" refund for each fuel which is more than £60 in credit (£116 and £124 respectively) (based on an actual meter reading). I might give it another whirl and see if they'll refund.

And you are giving them an actual meter reading, so there should be no issue.
Point out that it does not say "actual meeting reading provided by an employee of the company,or one of it's appointed representatives", it's worked in the past for me.

What can`t speak, can`t lie... and I have every bill going back 2 years and can show hard facts that my bills are now 50% less than when I was with BG & Npower.... AND still in credit.

I use Ebico, a non profit making organisation. By far the most straight forward & charge exactly the same rate for those on a meter or paying quarterly as those on monthly DD. So for those on lower incomes who traditionally use a meter to pay, this company WILL save them money over every other company out there. I've been with them for a couple of years now & I get billed by Southern Electric but my rate is set by Ebico. I can still update my meter reading by internet if I wish to but you dont have to.

| N Power are awful in my experience and BG have always been good. Possibly not the cheapest but the amount I pay is fairly small anyway so cant really be bothered to go searching to save myself a couple of quid a month.

| my friends are distributers with UW and we're with them. never had any problems, our bills have been reduced by a lot and we have our BB with them which is pretty good (i live near hull so not subject to KComs monopolisation)
give it a try. you dont have to have all of your utilities with them but its worth a go
