I'm hoping the delay is that we announce more than one signing, the English rumour seems to have gone quiet, which is a shame as would have liked to sign him.

Sounds like Newcastle are happy to let Clifford go, its all on him should he fancy coming over.

I really hope the club can drag this over the line. A spine of Hoy, Trueman, Clifford and Dwyer off the bench is one which should really get people excited.

Rather interesting that Hardaker's next move should be announced pretty soon. Not staying at Leeds, Wakey are the only side i could see him moving to, but can they accommodate/afford him? Couldn't see him moving to west of the Pennines. Unless he moves to a championship side, which is well below his level imo,it only really leaves us. Personally, wouldn't be happy. But him in centre and putting Sutcliffe into 2nd row isn't far from impossible.

Ellam seemed confident on English so hopefully its true.

Reading the article it also seems that the club had been looking for another half some time even taking in to account the signing of Hoy so possibly suggests that Connor had already made it known he wanted to leave some time ago and maybe why Smith hasn't tried to change Connors mind if his heart hasn't been in it.

He was all set to sign for Canberra until they pulled the plug. From what im led to believe it was the fact he was told that he would need an operation and was facing a lengthy spell out that led to them backing out.

One thing I noticed was not many Hull players if any wishing Connor well, compared with when Reynolds left the club.

Swear some hull fans just look to create drama. Loads of the lads put stuff on about Connor leaving. Was also at some of the World Cup games with a few of the lads but because it doesn’t suit the agenda they ignore it.

Like Smith said, hes got no time for anyone who doesnt want to be here. Replacement or not.

You have to have a certain level of dignity and the fact we have showed no matter who you are that if you dont want to play for us then bye bye.

Maybe the players club have asked us not to announce it until they have a replacement signed up?

You say drama, but last the last two seasons we have left haldback recruitment late and ended up with Reynolds and Gale.

But that doesn’t appear to be happening now does it?

Just seems a matter of when we announce the new half back not if and it is only the middle of October!

If we get to the new year with no announcement then I could understand the drama but not now.

We're just impatient

Im not sure, what happens if we don't get Clifford, need to replace Connor with equal quality, but that becomes harder when targets fall through. We lost Sneyd early November last year.

Not sure the club didn't hold off on the Connor announcement until we had a replacement signed.

Don't think there's any surprise in Walker leaving Leeds but have to say I'm surprised its Bradford he's gone too, thought he'd get a gig with another SL team at least. I guess his unfortunate injury record has possibly counted against him to an extent. Also Leeds confirming despite Walkers exit Hardaker will still not be getting a new deal at Leeds as terms couldn't be agreed.

I think we can be pretty impatient as fans however this time I think its justified

To be honest as fans I don’t think we’re any different to any others, all fans can be impatient at times. Though putting things in to context it is as you say justified presently based on the recruitment failures over the past couple of years and particularly in the HB area. Kelly left and we seemed to get Reynolds more as a panic move than anything as a replacement, we lost Sneyd admittedly late in the day and ended up with Gale. Now we’ve let Connor go but no confirmation from the club that any replacement is signed.
In all honesty I think the majority of fans have been very patient over the past few seasons when you look at the performances served up.

Hopefully with the appointment of a proven head coach in Smith we will start to move forwards instead of continuing to stagnate or loose ground on other teams.
