I've checked the maths and I don't think I am wrong.

Let's just say, I believe the simplest way to try an explain for people such as Mr Airlie Street would be:

First of all find the difference between the two figures (so let's take the 5500 and 12000 in question). Difference is 6500.
Then, divide the 'difference' by the original number. So, 6500 divided by 5500, which equals 1.18.
Then, simply multiply by 100 and there you have it.

The percentage [uincrease[/u (which I'm quite sure is what we have been talking about) however is 118.181818.

Think of it this way, if 1500 * 6 = 9000 for a 600% increase, then 1500 * 1 = 1500 for a 100% increase, which clearly isn't the case.

I think where people are going wrong is calculating the end number as a percentage of the original, rather than using the increase on it's own as should be done.

We can and do discount for games and if we did anymore we run the risk of upsetting the passholders, remember more fans does not mean more money to FC indeed less could be more. Getting more into the stadium is not going to happen overnight in the middle of a depression is it, we need to maintain what we have and let it grow as the club improves its playing staff.
