How much time do any of our players spend at the junior clubs that brought them through?
Go to any Wigan St Pats junior game and you'll find a number of Wigan 1st team players on the touchline and in the clubhouse at the end of the game. Similarly with Blackbrook & St Helens and Woolston & Warrington.
I don't believe either Hull club put enough time and effort into helping clubs to develop players at youth level

Spot on! majority of them can't be d to attend presentation nights. On the subject of player development. AQnyone that knows his amateur and youth rugby know Hull can and do hold their own against all the other districts.
It's when these lads get to FC and KR that the talent is hammered out of them. I saw plenty of Houghton when he was at Easts as a youngster as an opposition coach and that lad was a very good player. He played in a good team but he won them many games by his flair and quick brain. Same can be said of Thomas Lee when he was at West Hull Villa.
Then they get to Hull and what happens???? Lee, Houghton you are not a 6 or 7 you are a hooker. Flair we will have none of that here son.
In the last 10-15years one thing has not changed at Hull.....coach wise. If Pearson and Gentle had anything about them they would be asking what happens to these lads when they get here that they do not progress |

harry tyson-wilson sounds a great prospect but no doubt we'l bulk him up to play in the 2nd row or make him into a hooker.although i like houghton at hooker i think with the right coaching he could of made it as a 7.he had all the natural attributes,why we was obsessed to turn every local scrum half i.e houghton,lee,hodgson into a hooker is beyond me.these kids play all their youth rugby in a position well enough to attract pro-clubs and first thing we do is not harness their natural ability but coach them to play a new role.would'nt want them taking the place of a over paid has been/import though would we

Hull FC have always messed about with players positions Casey,A.Maclin ,Chester ,lunn signed as halfs never given chance there and hundreds more
Our best after Hoorne and Cooke was Chris Davidson signed as a centre if he'd gone to Wigan would of walked in to GB squad.

It is not correct that Hull sent the lad to Australia. Rob Wilson arranged and financed it on his own. He actually made arrangements for Hull to send another player of their choice so long as they financed it. The club declined. Rob ended up staying over in Australia himself with his lad for a period. The club had nothing to do with it whatsoever. |

| Quote One of Hull FC’s scholars (Harry Tyson-Wilson) has obtained a spot on a specialist placement programme with world-renowned Australian rugby league academy Keebra Park and starlet Harry is the first recruit to head down under from England.
The Keebra Park Sports Specialisation programme has always had strong ties with Super League, with a number of their graduates going on to ply their trade in the premier European competition including the likes of Jamaal Lolesi, Dallas Hood, Greg Eastwood, Rangi Chase and the Black and Whites very own Sam Moa.
Now, through the close relationship fostered between FC head coach Peter Gentle and Keebra Park coach Greg Lenton, the opportunity has now been formed for young stars of Hull FC’s future to travel to Australia and learn the way of the Kangeroos.
The partnership has already begun with the first scholarship player travelling around the world, with Hull FC and England Youth full back Tyson-Wilson taking the trip of a lifetime to the special rugby league nursery on Queensland’s Gold Coast, while spending his free time with the Colin Carter and his family, with Colin being a teammate of Harry’s father at West Hull ARLFC.
