It was 12-8, hardly comfortable. Wakefield were very poor against us but showed a great improvement against Leeds.

The scoreline doesn't always reflect the game, apart from the first 10/15 minutes I had no doubt we'd win the game. So the improvement... is that because of the coach being poor last week but good this week or because of the players?

Typical Kear. He can raise a team for big games but struggles to do so in run of the mill ones.

I know you still an pro-Agar man but the record over his tenure is terrible. Defeats I can take but lacklustre performances I cannot and there has been far too many of them.

But they've replaced him. Look at what happened to Leeds, probably the best team in the league, when they lost their main pivot in Sinfield.

Catalans have clearly given up on SL 2010. Walters has even gone on record saying that "they are concentrating on the CC". So losing to them shouldn't be possible should it ?



Cas showed them up yesterday and anyone playing them in the next few weeks, should have an easier encounter than most SL opposition. We have two weeks to prepare while they have a six day turnaround.

Surely we can't do any worse than against Harlequins.

They'll stuff us despite their own form. I have zero confidence in us to get a result anywhere other than at the KC. That will be followed by us being handed our s at Cas and then being tonked by St's. Happy days!!

Ive seen enough of this season to say we wont be troubling the top eight never mind Old Trafford . The team looks lost with the ball , Defence is going backwards ,Confidence is shattered and why change a habit and start winning against bottom sides we should be putting away. Catalans are poor but so are Salford , Crusaders before strengthening and Quins , All have beaten us in games we never looked like winning.
The signs were there last season and it hasn't taken long for them to surface this season. As much as I don't want Agar at the club ,The board have to take some of the blame with their shortsightedness and lack of ambition in appointing Agar in the first place.

We have had this man in charge of us for 2 and a half seasons and apart from early blips this season and last season i really dont see how much has changed during his tenure. Both hull clubs do reasonbly well in France, it's were I'd put the next hull franchise tbh.

Just to put the whole Agar is rubbish thing into perspective, there are about 4 coaches in SL who are doing any good.

Mcguire - doing well but still took a beating from Quins and the Bulls
Brown - got a very good squad and performs well but got turned over by Salford and looked very average against Wigan, looks a bit of unrest there since the Brough signing, have they pushed on from last year?
Smith - Are wire the real deal, still look fragile once they lose Briers for any time, still think the fans are happy.
Noble - Low expectations an is doing ok with a new bunch of players

As for the rest
Potter - Saints fans have been calling for his head for a big part of the season, he's going at the end of this one and most saints fans will pay his air fare.
Mcnamara - Looks on a par with Agar, signed some great players and they look pretty average most weeks, have the odd spark but little more, not many Bulls fans will be sad to see him go.
Mclellan - Having a stinker of a year, even now they are getting back to full strength they don't look the side they were, a lot of fans now saying he should go.
Kear - the wolves have been baying at his door this year, lost Brough and until weekend they have looked awful
Morgan - Wheels have come off, he is probably more under scrutiny now then he has been in his tenure and despite a lot of leeway there are suddenly real calls for his head.
Matterson - can't win at home, some awful dispays lots of fans calling for his head
Mcdermott - Had an awful run (on the back of injuries) again a section of the fan base wanted rid.
McCrae - Lots of bad feeling towards him from the fan base, never really done anything with them
Walters - Underperforming with a good squad, talk of him being offed at the end of the year.

Is Agar performing any worse than a lot of the above? I have mocked Agar myself (we have to it comes with our season pass) and I agree the 2 year extension did seem a little premature but still reckon you'll get top 6 if you can keep fitzgibbon on the park and get Long playing to even half his potential, surely that'll be a good season?

potter - saints look back to their best to me despite significant injury problems and probably nowhere near the salary cap. When was the last time we scored 11 tries in a game?

mcnamara - operating on the 5th lowest salary bill in SL yet still above us

mclennan - 2 SL titles and his underperforming side still put nearly 100 points on agar's in less than a week

kear - again operating on a reduced cap and has lost his 3 best players (brough, newton, tronc)

morgan - never rated him anyway

matterson - again, a side operating with reduced cap and lots of injuries. On a par with agar I'd have said

mcdermott - another one with less to spend yet still seems to manage to play some entertaining rugby

mcrae - past it but still seems to be able to get the odd good performance

walters - took his side to 4th place last year and proved he can motivate

I can see what you're saying and its just a different way of looking at it. I could point out that not many quins fans were stating entertaining rugby when we put 50+ past them. If you asked a lot of the fans of the clubs you've mentioned they would all point out the negatives of their own coaches and say Agar has assembled a good squad and is just having a mare with injuries.
