What are you on? We've a long record of playing people out of position, and changing juniors positions as soon as they hit first team. Most posters on here could list a full team in the last 5 years!

hull and utility players, I'd never believe it myself. majority of our squad could be labelled as utility players.

Horne's a stand-off or, possibly, fullback. He plays at stand-off or, if necessary, fullback.

Tony's a fullback and plays at fullback.

Lee's a hooker or loose-man. Guess where he's usually plays.

Berrigan, hooker.

Washbrook is primarily a loose-forward and, in a fully fit squad, would be playing at loose (whether starting or, if Agar persists in having Radford take up some space on the pitch, from the bench). He can play stand-off though and as we need someone to fill in there currently, putting him there isn't a problem.

Agar, I agree, is out of position.

Horne has played on the wing at an international level
Tony is a hooker/centre/fullback
Berrigan is a centre/hooker, and i read he wants to be a looseforward in his stay with hull

I'm not sure what your point is. Horne obviously isn't a winger, hence him not playing on the wing for us.

Tony has played the vast, vast majority of his games at fullback, both here and in the NRL.

Berrigan can play centre, and has many times, but is a hooker.

My point (which I though was fairly obvious) was that the those players listed were played out of position only when it was necessary due to injuries.

Tony used to play hooker for New zealand and has played centre for them on occasion too. He only played fullback in the challenge cup final for us because Briscoe was ill.
In an ideal world, Richard Horne's position, and where he would make the most impact, would be fullback. He doesn't have the class to shine in a good team at 6.
MY point, was that players ARE played in different positions at Hull.

He was on the wing in the 2005 Challenge Cup Final.

An opinion Kosh. Players like Mcguire and Pryce have far more class. They make things happen more often than horne

Totally agree, Horne doesn't have enough creativity with ball in hand to be a top six but next to a world-class seven he'd be fine.

He played at fullback for the Warriors and the Broncos in the NRL. That is/was his first choice position. He's played a huge majority of his games for us there. He played at hooker for NZ as he was the best option. He didn't play fullback as it wasn't necessary with them having Webb to play there.

And he played on the wing in the CC Final.



Different to what? Other positions they might have played at some time in the past? If so, that's pretty obvious. I doubt there's a player in the game who hasn't, at some point, played in a different position to normal. That's not what was being debated though. What was was the suggestion that Hull regularly choose to play players out of position when there isn't a need to do so. That isn't often the case.

Seeing as the thread is about scrum halves, I read that Stacey Jones is out of contract at the end of this season. Now I hear the cries of him being ancient but at 33, he's far and away better than what we have.

Horne is second only to Pryce IMO. And that's playing in a far less talented and dominant team for the vast majority of his career. Mcguire is not as good a player overall and is substantially overrated.

Horne 'makes things happen' plenty of times given what he has to work with.

Agreed, if Richard Horne played for Saints or Leeds, he would be the incumbant England Stand-off.

Pryce and Maguire have both got top notch half backs to play alongside.
