If were talking realistic signings , i think it has to be Matty Bowen from North Queensland , so unlucky not to get more international games with Minichello then Slater as Australia's Full Backs. Quality player in NRL but coming to the end of a long career and has been at the Cowboys all his life so wouldn't play for another NRL team (i think).

If that happened then it wouldn't constitute any improvement at all. I agree I doubt he would be sacked on that basis. I don't spend my time worrying about it to be honest I am enjoying the clear improvement in performance on the pitch and the style in which we are playing now. It's a shame we had a poor start but if I worried about that every day then I don't think I could be @rsed following the club at all as it wouldn't be worth the stress.

As far as Melbournes 'Big 3' go Smith and Cronk are far more important to the side than Slater.

having thought about this i'm going to make a case for cameron smith. most folk have gone for a world class half and i can see the logic in thurston who would also organise the team to some extent. however the best team organiser in world rugby is probably cameron smith who has to direct other pivotal front line players like cronk and slater week in week out. add in his defence, his range of passing and his kicking both in general play and goal kicking and you have a complete player. you don't need world class half backs to win superleague but you need a world class organiser and someone to lift the whole team. that's why i'm going for smith to have the same effect on the team that richard swain did
