Same, his ego is too big and he has isn't running anywhere. Can't carry a trick pony to lay a few assists on against Leigh. We need players who do it every week and against the top4 sides.

| I’d cash in on Connor if they invested the money in a proven coach who will sort out the shambles once and for all.

| Wouldn't blame jake if he wanted to leave but I'd get an experienced coach in and build a team around jake . We haven't got anyone remotely as good as jake in the club or coming in so losing jake and we would still be 9/10th in the league even with a change of coach

I thought FC was supposed to be a big club. Which so called big club would he go to? I cannot see him being a regular at Saints, Wigan, Leeds, or Cats in the full back role or a halfback. Not even Hudds. He has periods of acknowledged brilliance but almost invariably when things are going well for the team. When the going gets tough he tends to go missing. After his petulant, error ridden performance today I cannot see him being hunted by any club that will be challenging for honours in the immediate future.

Exactly. We could do with a new coach but not one of the experts on here who thinks we should willingly release our best player who has assisted about 40% of our tries this season.

You're right.
Get rid of our best player and the problems will be solved. We are fortunate to have him.

Even with Jake Connor next season sadly I think if Hodgson & Purtill are still the head & assistant Coaches respectively along with the likes of Taylor, Houghton, Griffin still in the side and without any quality adding in the 2nd row we will likely be fighting to avoid relegation. That for me is a reality of the situation the club are very much facing.
All the talk that next season with the arrival of Hoy, Trueman (who’ll miss a fair chunk at the start of the season) Dwyer and Sutcliffe is pure folly. There hasn’t been a shred of evidence that Hodgson can turn it around in fact it’s the total opposite.

| If we’re relying on players, and not coaching, to save us from a relegation battle next season, we’re in trouble.
Trueman and Hoy are only young, Sutcliffe is a good solid pro, and Dwyer comes on to speed up the ruck.
None of them are going to take a team by the scruff of the neck and lead it to the play offs. None of them are organisers.
Make no mistake, if nothing changes off the field, we are in trouble next year. Let’s just hope Wakey don’t get their recruitment right.

How many of these assists came in games that mattered? How many against the top6? Stat padding against Toulouse isnt enough, his attitude is shocking and we cant afford a full back just strolling around sulking.

He destroyed Leeds and Salford at the start of the season. 2 teams that made the play-offs.
We finished 9th.

| Not one single player in our squad stands out as captain material. Not one. That speaks volumes of the make up of it. Devoid of leaders and it shows. Conner would be worst choice possible.

Don't agree on Connor, wouldn't be the worst, at least he is passionate and a talker, but agree with you that there are no one that stands out as captain material

| Tony Smith and our new coach Willie Peters both stress that when signing players it is the man’s attitude and personality that needs to be considered before playing ability. Admittedly this doesn’t always prove to by an accurate assessment but yesterday showed that recently we have got it right more often than not. I could not see that FC take such important issues into consideration. May be that is why you have the same issues season after season irrespective of the changes in coaches and players. Jake Connor despite his periodic brilliance is a prime example. Yesterday the going was tough. How did he respond? With petulance, missed tackles, dropped ball and wayward passes. He is a senior player. He should be demonstrating leadership skills not behaving like a frustrated child. Some supporters want him to be captain in 2023. That is really going to drive the club forward.

Five try assists against Wigan in May. 185 metres and 23 carries against Catalans. Two try assists in both games against Huddersfield. We only scored three tries in the last two games against Saints and he got two assists.

Completely agree, the recruitment at FC has been a mess since Motu Tony left, latest concern is we seem to be signing utility players with no clear plan of who is playing what role.
I also think we have signed players who are just average in all areas like Mcintosh, whereas Radford favoured power over everything else. Its not clear if we are trying to be a fast, strong, off the cuff or structred team we have just averaged out and not sucesseding in any areas.

The club allows him to get by on the bare minimum fitness levels, if you didn't follow RL and you saw him in the street I'd doubt you'd guess he was a rugby player he just looks like an average joe who goes to the gym once a week. In the unlikely event an NRL team took a gamble on him they'd send him on an intense boot camp to get him up to speed.
He's also then allowed to prat about messaging our ex coach before games, mouth off at refs all game. Woulden't happen at a club with better standards and it sets a bad example for the younger players.

I think fitness is an issue for the whole team. Second half capitulations are not just down to attitude.
