| Why do people think it is Berrigan that wants away?
The club are desperate to get rid, and the attempts made are a bit pathetic really, insulting Berrigans intelligence

| Quote HULL FC are preparing to part company with Shaun Berrigan and use his six-figure salary to sign new players.
The Australian's representatives have been given permission to find him a new club for 2011, the Mail can confirm.
And because it would create space on the salary cap for coach Richard Agar, Hull hope to resolve the matter before Christmas.'"
Looks certain that he is on his way. I really can't see who we can bring in at such a late stage.

| Really bold move this from the club, with the article mentioning two signings I wonder who the non-quota one could be...

| I guess with this news, we could make a move for Luke Robinson who can play in the halves and as a hooker (like he does at Hudds) which gives us our interchange options. Which then frees up money to strengthen another area like a big Aussie centre or forward (shillington maybe)

| Shillington would be an immense signing, but I don't see him coming to Super League for a few years, if ever, now that he's a starter for Oz and Origin.
Would be happy with someone like Robinson, but I'm a fan of Berro and would be sad to see him go. Would only be happy with it if a player like Robinson was brought in.

Obviously Shillington is better than any of our existing props but I don't see the sense of getting rid of Berro to get another prop in and I doubt we could have enough cap room for Shillington and another significant signing.
I'd be happy with Sammut and Robinson myself, both can play hooker and in the halves... Horne and Long are both likely to miss more games than they play so it would be good to have cover for both.

| I wil be sad to see Berro go and I think that we will all find in the fullness of time that the situation with him is that he is happy playing at Hull has no problems with the club and is liked and gets on well with everyone as a player, and would like to stay, but although I think they may have tested the water a while ago this is not the club pushing him out, but rather the case is that complicated circumstances concerning his families residency here, and his Mums situation in Aus mean that he may reluctantly have to move back home a year earlier.

The quote that interests me the most is:
"The Australian's representatives have been given permission to find him a new club for 2011, the Mail can confirm."
Saying that this is confirmed surely means it is close to been finalised. By the sounds of it he has a lot of interest in Oz and won't go far to finding his "certain deal".
For me, I will be sad to see him leave, but as long as we get a quality replacement I won't be too disheartened. A hooker/half is priority.
Sammut/Witt/Rovelli/Robinson. Really can't see Robinson going, although Hudds are looking to enhance the Brown/Brough partnership which might leave him out of the limelight - www.examiner.co.uk/huddersfield- ... -27778794/.
Not heard anything recently about Rovelli, and who know's what's going on with Crusaders.

Why ?...it is not as if Berro has consistently played like a top class player is it!! I would take two signings with the work ethics of some-one like Moa any day of the week.

But if they tick all the boxes why not? Robinson, current international with the ability for all to see. Would answer our hooking and half questions, in both short and long term. Just because he isn't a 'high-profile name' doesn't mean he's not a quality player.

If you saw my previous post, a publication today states that Huddersfield are looking to progress the Brough/Brown partnership. I have never suggested that he is available, only that he looks to be out of favour.

Robinson may not be world class but he is still a very good player (played well in the 4 nations) who would offer something that we are missing and also the fact he can cover both in the halves and at hooker very well, lets face it the likes of Long & Horne staying fit all season is a very remote chance so whoever comes in to cover the halves will need to capable of more than just covering.

| i am quite confident that if we were trying to sign a HB/hooker then we could almost guarantee them 20+ games a season - either starting or from the bench. IMO it shouldn't be a problem convincing the player they'd play a pretty big role in our squad for the season

| If Hull have agreed this then we must have somebody lined up. Shame for Berrigan, but if he has to go home to be nearer his mother then so be it. I don't see much foul play tbh, maybe just a bit of over-eagerness on Hull's part.
As for replacaments, well, we still need halfback cover, which this person now needs to be a hooker/half ala Robinson/Lualaui(sp). And we still need a centre IMO. Can't think of many that would be available.

I don't think we need anymore centres. we have yeaman, briscoe, whiting and turner. I prefer Yeaman/Briscoe as centres for 2011. we've got sharp and lynne on the wings, but maybe too early for lynne so we could keep briscoe there for now. how about chris hicks?
it would be great if calderwood was an option but IMO he is crocked and we'd struggle to get 10+ games from him

On the topic of centres, it seems to me like Whiting will get it, with Turner back up. The HDM article on Berro this morning states that the issues has been on-going for weeks, and it was only a few weeks ago in the HDM where Agar said he "sees him (Whiting) as a centre". Looks like this has all been planned out a while back to me.
