Agree with that team apart from Tag who has copped a ban.
I'd probably start with Fash at prop and have Gardiner on the bench.

can't believe I forgot about that
I'd swap Taylor for Gardiner on the bench and either start with Fash or Brown so we still have some size coming off the bench with Satae who should be able to make some good metres off the bench.

I'd start Fash, definitely keep Cam Scott in over McIntosh and start Brown, who should be able to play big minutes, alongside Sao, who we all know is durable. If Hoy is fit, that looks enough to me to win this one; bring on Satae and Dwyer to exploit any fatigue and use Laidlaw , albeit sparingly.
I do think the result on Sunday will be a good indication of where we are at. Previously, this sort of game would see us lose, with a complacent and not at it attitude, but I think if we do win this, we can definitely say, with fragile confidence, that we have indeed turned a corner.

| Just cant get excited for the cup these days, would have liked this to be a league game.
That said a win at all costs just to keep momentum going. Weve lost that much over the past few seasons I cant recall this group ever putting 4 wins on the bounce.

Speak for yourself! Bloody love the cup. Can’t beat knock out rugby.
Lasty will be looking for a massive scalp to put a mark on his tenure, however it seems his players have thrown the towel in already. If we play like we have the last three games we should be winning, and as already said, four wins on the bounce will show we’ve turned a corner.

| Certainly still some magic around the cup in my view, would like to see SL sides enter a round earlier, gives us opportunity to visit grounds we wouldn't usually venture to, whilst the championship/league one sides get a decent payday out of it.

| I'd be tempted if he's staying to give Staveley a go off the bench instead of Gardiner but the only problem is we miss Tags long minutes but I suppose Fashy can fill that void.

Me too I'd like to see Staveley given a chance. Think he looks more ready for it than Gardiner.

That was my thoughts re Hoy based on how TS has dealt with players coming back from injury. I imagine that McIntosh may be on the bench or even start with him getting a run out at FB in the reserves as a precautionary measure re Hoy.
Good to see Staveley named in the 21, would be a good opportunity to give him some minutes at first team level if he's staying. Hopefully there are no doubts over Hoy which would allow TS to do that rather than have McItosh on the bench as a back up.

Has Jacob Hookem played for them yet?
Surely if they rate him that highly this is the game to play him?

Thats a pretty strong squad and they still have some big bodies in their pack.
I think we have to target Fonua, he is not very mobile and, although he's looked pretty good with the ball at times, Jordan Turner's defence has been exposed due to his lack of pace and ability to turn quickly ,when I've seen him, so I'd hope we can take advantage of that, but both are likely to play a blinder as it is against us. It seems so long ago that Turner scored a hatrick against Rovers at the then KC Stadium, he's certainly had a durable career, it was around the time of Stilts and Brett Seymour, if I remember correctly.
I'd love Hull to make a play for Cain Robb, when he's OOC, some time next year I think I read, I think he'll be a very good hooker and if he plays Sunday, we'll have our hands full, particularly with his dummy half runs as he has a really good turn of pace. I think we need a win to reinforce belief and convince everyone, including the players to buy into Smith's coaching, which will see us improve as the season goes on, hopefully. I'd love to be confident about this game, but it is Hull we are talking about. Nevertheless, I called the Wigan game margin correctly, so I am going to say Hull by 10, in a low scoring at times dour game, unlike our season opener.

Yes he's had a long old career. He signed for Hull as a 21 year old for the 2010 season. He made his debut in the halves along side Richard Horne. Turner was a decent player for us, 34 tries in 72 games.

Went to my first CC final back in 1949 on a school trip and loved the day so much so that I went to every one until I left the UK in 1966. Then came back for those where Hull were one of the combatants and one when Roy Francis won it as coach for Leeds in 1968( renowned ''Watersplash Final"icon_wink.gif. Third time lucky for Roy as he had lost 2 consecutive ones at Hull in '59 and '60. Went to my last when Hull finally won at Wembley against Warrington
A memory of my first one was arriving at Kings Cross and experiencing a Cola drink(Pepsi) for the first time- not available in Hull for some reason.
