What evidence do you have as your basis?
If Rovers can survive off pass sales, still recruit for next year and possibly have a more expensive coaching set up in Smith and Maguire then I'm sure we're okay, things might be tight as with all clubs but okay.
Otherwise how do you explain us still actively recruiting for a coach and even possibly pay compensation for the coach we wanted.
I just find talk like that unnecessary, unsettling and with no grounding.'"
No doom and gloom, I'm merely speculating. I'm sure finances will be very tight. Can you say for certain how many passes we'll sell this time? Can you say whether or not we'll be allowed back to watch games?
Many, many bridges to cross before normality returns, or what will pass for normality. As I stated, I believe the possibility of him being lured away is higher than the chance that finances will dictate his sale/departure.
Should we manage to win the grand final then I'm sure both of my scenarios become less likely.

You've still not enlightened as to why and where he'll be lured too.
I believe in the possibility I'm going to win the lottery, doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Let me make this simple. All my previous posts were OPINIONS. I believe this forum is here for us to voice them. Why are you always looking for an argument instead of a discussion? At least, that's the way your posts come across.
I base my opinion on the recent upturn in his, and our form, which has thrust him in to the spotlight. Again.
He is undoubtedly a talented individual and there has been much speculation on his best position. More importantly where he believes his best position to be.
I believe if his form continues in the next (hopefully 2) games, the sharks will begin to circle. Whether we have enough ammo to fight them off remains to be seen.
I sincerely hope we can, and I hope we can make him see that, in my opinion, he is best suited at full back.
Is that OK with you?

| Just wondering who he l replace at saints, Wigan or Warrington?
Definatley wouldn't be sold to Leeds
Sorry not happening , he l thrive at fullback in a performing team and stay.

Its funny that many on here saw Connor as a full back but the coaches kept trying him as a six yet it was quite evident he was never a six.
Still like him as a right centre but now Ratu is leaving i would leave him at full back.
If he had pace he would be a world class full back

The coaches faced a problem in fitting in Shaul and Kelly when both were available. They were reluctant to move Shaul from fullback although there were a few people including myself who wanted Connor at FB at the expense of Shaul.
It is now obvious that Connor is relishing his role but would he have played there had Shaul been available?
Wayne Bennett tried Connor at 6 during his England tenure.

| Depending upon finances, one option may be not to replace just yet.
If Josh Jones does leave at the end of the season, any fee from his sale, plus his and Albert’s salary may be held in reserve until a clearer picture is known about Covid.
It doesn’t stop us signing as the season progresses, but it may be financially prudent to work with the squad we have until we have fans back at the game.
It’s not like we have had Albert and Jones in the team recently. Replacing Ratu may be a more pressing priority.

| FFS Conner has had about five good games in the last year and theyve all been recently. The only place he'd leave us for is the NRL as SL is a joke atm. I doubt any NRL side will be coming in for him in the near future

| Didn't we enquire about the availability of jackson Hastings before he resigned with Wigan? Sure I read it in league weekly, left me with the impression we're looking for someone to play 6/7 and have some budget. Any nrl stand offs available with a point to prove?
Who was our 6 in reserve? Be nice to promote from within and find another Richard horne

| A new half back with pace is a priority.
Losing both Kelly and Ratu takes away the pace we had on the wing and the backing up and support of breaks we had with Kelly.
The changes in Super League means pace is becoming more important with teams like Wigan adding a real speedster in Field.
If we can keep Swift fit he will help but if the club decide to keep Connor at full back then we lose the pace we had with Shaul so its important we find a new half who can give us the pace and back up down the middle.
A good example was the break Griffin made against Warrington.A fast full back would have been with him and for sure if Kelly had been playing it would have been a try under the posts

If he hadn’t gone back to Oz I would have made a move to bring Rankin back and play him at 6.
Jake Trueman would be the ideal choice but would cost mega money to get him out of Cas.
Lolohea would be another choice.
I reckon we are going to have to pay a fee as I don’t think there is any player that fits the bill out of contract.

I’m sure Jordan would have jumped at the chance as well, not sure it would have suited us now.
Trueman is an excellent prospect, but as yet he’s not got Alberts quality, but I wouldn’t say no,
Lolly seems to disappear a lot, a bit like Rob Louis
We need to be having a word with Motu, see if he can radar a gem for us, as long as finances allow it.

Agree, everyone knows it isn't a great world out there for any business right now but unlike other industries RL has had a Government bailout. Also HullFC's walk up ticket sales must be amongst the lowest in the league, its pass sales that keep the club afloat and of course they got the full pass income for 2020.
As I've said in another thread they need to think carefully about some kind of money back guarantee or money off a future pass if games cancelled kind of deal or pass sales will be a struggle. Some simply can't afford it, others will edge their bets and just pay on the day as we never sell out. Luckily the team hitting form at the right time helps massively.

Rankin is not a six, decent full back but never a half back.
Its going to be a problem finding a running half with pace but its a priority and im sure the club are on top of it and we will find someone just like we did when Albo was signed..

..... what do you think the walkups would have been for the 2nd home derby, 12000 maybe, a lot of money.
I reckon walkups for most other games will have been around 2-3K, it adds up to a lot of money.
All budgeted for, for this year and next.
Wigan reckon covid testing for them next year could amount to £120k, a lot of money, unless someone else pays.
Sky money next year down by £250k per club, a lot of money.

Im not suggesting the club hasnt lost out, just pointing out most industries haven't had Government cash directly except for the Furlough scheme. I'd say our walk-up crowd is 1-2k usually, and don't forget the SMC get a cut. We also get little to nothing off the bars. Which to me makes that income in the lower half of the league. At some clubs like Wakefield its all about the walkup gate and match day sales, largely due to the poor stadium and weather.

He isn’t that good to be honest, quite an underwhelming signing to be honest... would rather stick with players like Lane & Fash - hope to god he isn’t Josh Jones replacement if rumours are to be believed.

Disagree. Bowden and Taylor not great on injuries the last 2 years. We had Matongo, Fash, Satae, Sao and Brown in the Wigan cup game and got steamrollered.
