No amount of inverted commas can change the fact it is just a pre-season warm up. As long as neither side gets metaphorically kerb-stomped, which tbh does nobody any good in this situation, and there are no major injuries everybody wins.

A couple of interesting picks there. Namely Turgut starting and Hadley on the bench, and Sanderson starting ahead of Lancaster. Does that indicate a little shuffling of the pecking order, or does Radford just want to be able to spread the experience out a little, so it's not strongest 13 in the first half and weakest 13 in the second?

I did ours based on a 24 man squad with I think only 3 or so over 25 (Washy, Green, Michaels) and most of the rest about 20/21. I can provide the spreadsheet later if required. Yours came from HDM resident apologist Gareth Westmorland, so he'll have just printed what the club told him to. He'll be claiming Rovers haven't had 6k passholders in SL era next, or that 737 > 1300 again.

As with the Cas game it's a chance for Radford to have a look at his squad players against good quality opposition, and a chance for those said players to gain experience at a level or two higher than they are used to.

Entertaining half. Rovers probably deserve to be further in front but nice to see the youngsters get minutes. Good stints from Masi Matongo and Brad Fash.

Radford has stated that he will need to rotate the squad this season so he wants to use the game against a strong rovers side to see which younger players in the squad can step up.

So far I can't say it's anything less than I thought it would be although Green needs to step up his game if he wants a spot in the 17.

Not sure who'd take Green's place tbh. He has runs on the board from back end of last season IMO.

Think the policy of playing mainly junior players in the majority of the pre season is quite smart, and will pay dividends later in the year.

To give you a sense, 6 FC players this half of the field, numbers 25, 28 and 4 without numbers.

Fair enough, I just think £16 for a friendly like this is steep, so long as we don't get any injuries then I can take defeat given the team we have out.

Literally been the U23s for us all second half I think. Bit difficult to identify players as so many didn't have squad numbers but enjoyed the game. Good performance especially with ball in hand for Rovers.
