| We won't get powell as much as I would love him to come. He'll end up at one of wire, wigan, leeds or saints in the next 18 months. For me it has to be an experienced aussie coach to come in not knowing anyone and implement the changes the club needs in order to progress

| The first thing this club needs is for Pearson to sell up and we get an owner whom isn't a clueless bi-polar paranoid megalomaniac. The new owner can then sack Radford as clearly AP isn't going to, I'm sure Radford must have something on him as there's really no logical reason to keep him on.
Then I'd get Clive Woodward on board and only after he'd spent time analysing all the shiate at the club from top to bottom consider what coach we should get plus other professionals from whichever sport, not just RL.
I'd also downgrade all the current directors, they are yet another aspect of the club that is on the cheap, with next to zero experience outside the club, aren't particularly qualified and quantifying them as 'directors' is an insult to fans intelligence.
Oh and Powell isn't going anywhere even IF we waved a shed load of money at him which AP won't.

| Quite honestly re appointing Richard Agar would be an ambitious long term appointment compared to Radford, why Adam Pearson is so blinkered I'm not sure, even more baffling is why he was so ruthless with Gentle.
Although not ideal even if we could only afford to appoint Horne it would be such a forward thinking move compared to what we have now, I'm sure he wouldn't purposely try to force out the best young players at the club and maybe even give a few a bit more game time, and I'm sure the attacking players will be able to play with more freedom, the senior members of the squad would maybe have to step up and help out, but apparently they did this when we played our only bit of decent rugby while Radford has been in charge.
Anyone who says they wouldn't take Brian Smith simply deserves to watch the dross being served up now, but I expect he'd be out of our price range.

The fact that this is subject to debate shows what a mess we are currently in regarding our head coach. I honestly don't know who I'd rather have out of the two of them.

It is certainly close, Radford recruitment is better (just the fact that we have signed some halfbacks) and I think we do play better rugby under Radford (Goes back to the halfs again).
Agar failed to make the top 8 in his first two seasons, lets hope Radford does better than that.

Wouldn't say so, the club still spent up to full cap when Agar was in charge. Paid the fee for Westy while he was in charge too didn't we?

| Agar took us to Wembley in his first part season but our league form was dire. His first full season was dreadful, but his second full season was actually a good year. Perhaps our best since 2007. Ironically it was Radford that cost us a top 4 finish that year. 2011 was bang average but he did at least make the playoffs.
I wouldn't fancy either in charge, but if it had to be one or the other it would be Agar every time.

I'd argue that there's not a lot in it, but did Agar have the young players available to him that Radford has and has seemingly squandered or going to squander?

We won the Academy GF in 2007 didn't we, so he had the best of that bunch to use during his tenure. He had an awful record of bringing juniors through.

2005, From what I remember Tommy Lee, Thacrkray, Washbrook, Wheeldon, Houghton and Kirk Dixon stood out that season and around that time. Agar in 2008 should have done better with those, but is argue that the attacking talent in Shaul, Crooks, Lineham, Lancaster, HTW, Dean, Abdull that Radford has/had available is better.

And yet we all shouted for him to be sacked and to AP's credit he did just that. Peversely then why is he hanging on to Radford when, as you say, Agar was actually the better of the two.

If I remember correctly from several of his post mortums, I don't think 2007 was actually Agar's 'team'. Even when he was leaving, he was still looking for the final pieces of his jigsaw.....
Shame, we'd have won a hat trick World Club titles if only we had given Agar time. Think Radford is in the same mould and we won't win a thing in this Millenium, unless we get rid of him too.

Interesting thought. Clive Woodward is a Rugby League fan. During his playing days he left Leicester Tigers to go and play Rah Rah in Australia. While there he used to go and learn from the Manly coaches. You can see from his time in charge of England, how he brought in elements of Rugby League e.g. Multiple phases, instead of booting it in to touch at every opportunity, Defence coaches (Mike Ford), Jason Robinson etc
I'd still go for Brian or Tony Smith. As Staffs FC said in another post, it's all about fine margins. Either if these two could gain us 6+ points per game and if you apply this to our results over the past few seasons, we'd be knocking in the door of a Top Four place, instead of the Bottom 4.
Before Radford gets ideas above his station, he hasn't been good enough it get us over the line in the tight games and therefore we need to employ a Coach who can.

| Looks simple to me.
You would think that Brian isn't going to want a head coach's job after 4 or 5 years, this is a great opportunity for Radford to step to aside and be coached by a master.
From what I remember of Brian Smith he started to create a club not a team, the threepenny stand rebuild was down to him, building a team of coaching staff and understanding how a rugby league club should be ran.
Bring him in, let him build some systems and make a start on the club Hull idea
