So IF we miss the 8 and get knocked out of the cup early doors for instance (not saying that will happen) and don't make any progress as a team relative to everyone else in the comp you think it's a good idea to stick with the same coach for a third season? Or is that what you think Pearson is effectively saying?

| I like Adam Pearson and appreciate what he has done and is trying to do for the club but if what is reported is exactly what he has said then he could have dug an embarrassing large hole for himself.
Like others I am desperate for a win at Huddersfield to kick off the season and get some confidence into the team as we have some really tough matches to follow, but imagine after nine or ten games we are at the bottom of the league with gates plummeting what does Adam Pearson do then?

I am supportive of the clubs plan with the youth and accept it will take time, but there has to be a balance between in the field progress and off the field & junior development.
If we continue to struggle on the field we'll lose fans and the junior development will become a luxury we can't afford and the young players themselves may not be too happy about playing for a club knocking around in the Championship.
If Pearson was putting his faith in an experienced, proven coach I'd be content with the statement he has put out. But the alarming truth is we are putting our faith in an unproven coach, who's been part of the mediocre, all hype and no substance, underachieving dross that we've been served up for 7 seasons now.

| What the @@@@ is going on here ? ,here we are less then a week before the start of a really tough season and already we have the moaners in full flight. Last week at wakey a fan was shouting Radford out and blaming him for the defeat??? if it was a full squad then maybe he was justified but what planet are some fans on.We all want success and god knows the loyal fans deserve some but i just cannot believe the negativity some fans persist with. Last season we could have had the best coach in the world and would have probably ended the same,IMO did the best he could with what he had and with a bit of luck could have been in the eight. This season i hope to see more progress and all we can ask for is everyone including fans to pull together and make it a great 150 th year

More what Pearson is saying than myself. Im open to Radford. He had a bad first season but also had a lot to contend with with all the e Gentle/McRae had brought in. Im hoping hes learnt a lot from last season and as a club we will show improvements all round. I think the season will have some great highs and some really bad lows but as a whole we will improve and will make the eight and be more competitive. Im expecting a lot from Sneyd, not in a an amazing playmaker sort of way but in terms of just getting the basics right, kicking at the right time, goal kicking accuracy and I think him alone will get us into the eight
I think as a club we need to back the team for now. I know I know im the worst for it but we need to get some confidence going and by backing the team and coach we will hopefully help them achieve this.

| For me, radfords entire job relies on keeping certain individuals fit, if pryce for example takes a bad knock and hes out for a while, I believe we will struggle again badly,... minnichello has to stay strong aswell for the entire season, paying big bucks and not getting him out on the pitch has cost us in previous years..... a strong start is needed, but I fear we could start average at best, hope im wrong though

Saints have appointed Cunningham for this year.
Huddersfield promoted Paul Anderson.
Wigan have Shaun Wane.
Brian McDermott had little previous experience.
Catalans have Frayssinous.
Chester, Betts, Harris, Webster - all have little experience or are in their first head coach role.
Powell came from the Championship.
Only Warrington have appointed a proven coach in Tony Smith, rather than promoting from within like the rest have done. This tells me that there's a lot to be had by putting a guy at the helm who understands his club top to bottom, but also that they're simply aren't a lot of 'proven' coaches available. Who realistically could we bring in? An unproven Aussie assistant?
I'm not Radford's biggest advocate by any means, but FFS get off the guys back, we haven't even started the season proper yet.

I Think people are just reacting to Pearsons comments, I think people are concerned that if we go the first 6,7 games without a win and are playing badly, Radfords job will still be safe! After last season, and if that was the case, it would be ridiculous. But I agree, lets give him a chance first, think Hudds game away is a great first game, think it will tell us alot about this team and how our season is going to go

| For all those who can't sleep of a night, I'd advise them to take AP's latest remarks with a a pinchette of sodium chloride.
In his time at the club he has told things that could be classed as untruths, under scrutiny, on possibly more than a singular occasion.
But hey, relax, it's the coin from his pockets that's running the gig, so, for me at least, he's more than entitled to a little liberal license.
Lose the first seven? No improvement thereafter? Don't make the eight?
Head coach for 2016?
Don't make me laugh!!!

The thing I would point out there though, is that the 5 proven successful/competitive teams that have done it all did so from a much more settled and established position. Saints, Wigan and Leeds all did it within 2 seasons of winning SL, and Hudds and Catalan were both teams making progress in and around the top 4-6. Of the other 5, Powell was arguably proven in the Championship, Betts earned his shot at SL via promotion, and Chester and Webster are at clubs allegedly at the lower end of the finances ladder. Harris is an anomaly IMO. He talks a good game, but so far I think his coaching record is pretty rubbish. I think Dr Koukash might have got a little bit carried away with splashing the cash and the 'coup' of landing a Wigan coach.
The club who were probably closest to our situation were actually Warrington, in that they were meandering along underachieving and not really threatening, and felt that they needed to make changes to get themselves on track. Interesting then that as you say, they were the ones who went out and bagged a proven coach to oversee it all.
I genuinely hope that we have a good season with Radford proving the doubters (including myself) wrong, but whether people are supportive or questioning of Radford there’s no getting away from the fact that it is a big gamble to put such an inexperienced coach in charge of such a big project.

| Waaaay too soon to be discussing sackings although I realise this is probably on the back of the bookies odds for first coach out.
Maybe Radders has said to Pearson that if ever he wants rid of him let him know and he will walk (within reason of course!)?
Makes Pearsons comments fair.
Just throwing it out there.
I hope Radford proves the doubters wrong and like his stance on giving youth a chance - time will tell!

Radford already stated last season that he would walk if he couldn't do the job. Maybe they are trying to manipulate the bookies having had a flutter on the side as to whom WONT be sacked..KERCHING..lol

Exactly! If Redknapp can quit a multi million pound contract at a Premiership club because of a 'gammy knee' then that is more then plausible.

| Here's an idea I know it's a bit way out but why don't we get behind the team, the owner and the coach. A lot of hull fans think we have a god given right to be in the top 4/6 because we great 30 years ago. AP has admitted his plans are taking longer to come to fruition. If he hired a new coach now it would be back to square one. I think his statement is aimed more at the players to get rid of their player power that did for Gentle. New season new start lets get behind the boys

You can't come on here with your sensible posts! The drama queens will rip you to bits. It hasn't even started yet and they're circling.
I never rated him but it is a new start. He will have learnt. I think he did the right thing with pre season. He will know where he wants to go and what his best teaam is. His problem is that he didn't consult the pant wetters individually to seek their advice before making his choices.
Onwards upwards.

I realise that Pearson's relationship with Hudge is better than it used to be, but travelling to Rovers away games could be one step too far.

Pennington Flash Country Park could be nice for Adam to wander round pre-match, cursing himself over the comments he made back in February.
Maybe afterwards he could indulge in a game or two at BJ's Bingo.
