I would agree IF we were showing some green shoots of progress, the end to 2012 for example was the same 2nd round playoff defeat as this season, but a credible performance at Wire was a whole world away from Thursday's horror show!

I agree he needs to think about the decision rather then acting on emotions but say if he doesn't see improvement in 3 years time then that is another five years he has wasted. I guess that is why he is having a review, are we off down the right path or not ?

If you look at the side that won the semi final you would think we were but if you look at the side who have played the last six weeks you would think not. With P+R due back 5 year plans are something we probably don't have time for unfortunately, I don't think he expected silverware after two years but with the money invested I think he would have hoped we would at least compete at the business end of the season.

It wouldn't surprise me though if the HDM are incorrect and Pearson could be talking more of certain players within the squad itself. Its all guess work til we hear what AP has come up with, but if I were Gentle I wouldn't be convinced his job is "100% safe". What you have to bear in mind is that Gentle has definitely lost a lot of support from the stands and each bad result next season will only make things worse. You have to find it strange we were in for Mika then all of a sudden the interest had ended, AP clearly has put things on a hold on that front and if PG was safe I doubt he would do that.

But there's the performances in the challenge cup, the derby away, Wire away, Leeds at home, Wigan at home, two relatively close games with Hudds. Consistency is still the problem, but our defence has improved beyond recognition and is allowing us to compete in almost every game. I think there's plenty there to build on.

this is a good point, under franchising we'd have the time to create a side of local talent and see how they progress. With relegation coming back the club simply can't risk everything on a young team, relegation would most likely mean administration for a club with big overheads like ours.

We put all our eggs into the challenge cup basket, it backfired massively and Gentle admitted after the Hudds game that they haven't recovered from it. The worst thing Pearson can do is to make a decision now, while it's still raw.

When Gentle first came our attack improved straight away, we started using blind side moves and a few set plays but they've all gone missing.

They was a lot of league games before the challenge cup even started to get serious and we lost a lot of them. Warrington and Leeds have both proved in the past getting to both finals is do able as have Saints and even those teams that have finished poorly after a cup final defeat have not laid down and rolled over like we have.

I think it says it in Gentles ability right there if he has failed to regather the squad since the Cup final.

The CC is/was no excuse for the limp performances earlier on such as Widnes away or the Good Friday derby

if we are to have a good clear out in players who is there to replace them? do you think we will sign anyone after the world cup? or keep taking average players from teams below us?

leeds have developed through youth system warrington have bought a team but have been fortunate but also i think because theyve had and still have good organisers in briers monaghan etc. weve bought at desperate times on the back of losing out on chase/prince and other very good players. our youth we see us right but will take years.

do we have young half backs coming through, that is the biggest problem we've had for the last 20 years.

I don't think we have a pick of half backs who are coming through the ranks tha wil be good enough. I was told the other day that we have let Rich Wikinson go and he's returned to West Hull.
As for Harry Tyson-Wilson, the kid is brilliant. I've mentioned his kicking game before and for his age group it's second to none. Also he really knows how to take control of the game.

Great point about experienced quality halves. Still not got the quality needed to step the club on IMO.

Regarding recruiting a proven top coach, everyone has their price.

IF Pearson doubled the coach's salary,for example, at least the coach would consider it.

At the end of the day, its a job - any head would be turned by a lucrative offer

What we need to do next is not take Radford and Cooke as coaches. Although im warming to Cooke a little more these days I do not want him anywhere near the club and as for Radford as coach well have people not learned from whats happened over the last seven years?

Were very much limited in playing personel now but coach is one area where, as a club, you can push the boat out and Pearson needs to make a statement of intent. Without it we'll be lucky to get in the eight next year though even with a new coach that may still be hard with Gentles appauling signings which are possibly even worse than Sharps imo

With the right coach, the players we have available should be good enough for top 6 and should be pushing for the top 4. With a bit more consistency we would have finished top 4 this season. No need to throw the baby out with the bath water but an inexperienced coach will struggle IMO
