Because he's too small to be effective at prop. Couldn't even get a game at wakefield

Just out of interest, now Lynch has gone & your stripping Ellis of the captaincy who would you give it to? Please don't say Houghton.

His role in the team looks to be over with Hull now realizing the mistake of signing a lighter pack of forwards .

| Yeaman, Horne, Crookes. Glad to see the back of Tickle now. Johnson needs game time; FFS, we kept Dowes for years and he never ran straight.
Pitts is already good enough to play for us and I'd take him over Mika anyday.
Any fool that's calling for Ellis to go hasn't got a clue. He's been solid. Its not his fault Gentle insists on using him as a battering ram. Let him run out wide and put his centres away. We've missed a wide-runner since McMenemy retired.
Finally, I reckon the reason FC dropped their interest in Mika was down to Radders. I bet he was a Gentle/McRae target.

This.
Ellis may not have set the world on fire with a free flowing attack as many expected but he has tried his up most to lead the team from the front. Out of the 17 on Thursday he is not the one I would be looking to get rid of.
Gentle has to go, I defended him in the past but you can't defend what happened last Thursday and he is too inconsistent as a coach to see us win anything under him. I was prepared to let him have another season to see if the foundations of defense could be built upon but his position is now very difficult and lacks the personality to get the team out of it.
I like to fact he has brought youth into the team and given players opportunities but bottom line is he can't fire the team up even in adversity. Recruitment for me has being questionable, I like the thought of bringing in young players but its not what the first team needs now, it needs proven top quality players and we wasn't recruiting that.
As for players leaving I think Yeaman has seen better days and our attack on the left hand side is now poor, I believe he is a big reason as to why Briscoe left. Horne whilst had a decent start to the campaign it still doesn't convince me he is a player we should be looking to have in the 17 every week, however at this moment in time I would have him ahead of Holdsworth. Tickle I am glad to see the back of, end of on that front. Don't see Bowden making it as a player but can remain as a squad player, should probably spend next season out on loan somewhere. Jason Crookes for me again is not a good player and never will be so I would not look at him being a starting winger for next season. Watts is not delivering on the pitch and in terms of development is going backwards and I would keep Miller think he will come good, but with no Gentle about I'm not sure if his heart will be with us anymore.

While I don't for one second want rid of Ellis he should never have been given the captaincy over Lynch. By his own admission Ellis captains by 'leading by example' (very much, dare I say it, like Radders did - not saying much on the pitch at all). You don't need to be captain to display that sort of leadership, invaluable though his experience, steadying influence and presence is.
I'd make Whiting captain and give him a start at loose man every match, now Lynch has gone. Sadly, I think if Lynch had retained the captaincy he'd still be here.

It's very bizarre. It can't be an opinion based on form, because he's played very well when on the field.
I agree totally with Wormy about Whiting - I think he should've been our captain for years now.

Absolutely , the one and the same. When do you propose we get rid? Just after he can't do that? I think just before is a better idea. It's like bringing on subs just after the player coming off has missed a tackle. Anyone can see that but the skill in coaching is doing it just before it happens. Good teams have consistently timed their retention and disposals well and without sentiment. The fact that Horne has had something of a renaissance this year is as much to do with the poor standards around him as it is his recovery from injuries. Whiting does blow my argument because I'd treat him as an exception and build the team around him. Having said that he's got more years left in him than Horne anyway. Horne has been a loyal servant for us as has Yeaman and they are FC through and through but they are not going to be the basis of progression over the next few years. There's little we can do about it though because they and others who are average or old have contracts and it's increasingly unlikely that we will be able to attract anything different. So we can't draw lines and make any wholesale changes to the squad and have to , again , make the token gesture of changing the figurehead. And so it goes on until , hopefully , we just happen to get lucky and hit on a generation of local Hull lads that just happen to provide a spread of forwards , halves and backs and just happen to be the best of their generation who all want to play for Hull. When was the last time that happened? Maybe having local coaches is the missing ingredient??

I thought he looked it on Friday, even when he has had quiet games his defence has been good, but even his defence was suspect on Friday...which makes me think he was injured and shouldn't have been out there.

Ellis drags in the oppositions defence but we never use him as the runner and hit Yeaman out back. We just let him barge his way in.

Horne was in great form before he got injured, possibly the best of his career in many aspects. He's 4 years younger than lee briers (who has won 3 challenge cups and been to one grand final, probably going to another, since he was horne's age), only 1 year older than danny brough and younger than kevin sinfield.
Yes he picks up injuries but I doubt he's on a large whack at this stage of his career and offers a far better back up in the halves or full back than we could likely get anywhere else for the same money. I'd certainly rather have him in the halves than either miller or holdsworth TBH and either will do well to ever be as good as horne has been

Quite. Talk of getting rid of Horne is just crazy. When the review of what went wrong this season and who is responsible has taken place, Richard Horne will be at the bottom of the list.

Wakey would have Johnson back if they had the money plus Holdsworth as we need a half back. Infact we can only afford 15 players for next season.
Could you loan them two and pay their wages for a season?
