It was a red card, pure and simple. Nasty, malicious and dangerous. what makes it worse is that the officiails and everyone in the crowd could see he should have walked just by looking at the slow-mo on the big scree. Another example of RL ref bottling a big decision.

He swung with a clenched fist at his head... if ever there was a sending off that was it..
Sad thing is 1/2 of teh other "head high" tackles weren't...

In the end probably would have been better for rovers if he was sent off.. now he's injured hope its a long layoff... justice mayhaps.

Compared to the challenge that led to a sinbinning then yes it should have been a yellow, but never a red... Many challenges could have and should have been punished in the game, Watsy had a shocking swinging arm which was missed by the officials so it evens itself out in that respect, we will each see only the bad of the opposition at times and too much is open to interpretation and that is why officials are so inconsistent with their decisions .......

Blinkered... just watch the replay and you will see how blinkered we all are.
(Oh and BTW open your eyes and watch it)

Oh my God, lets all back in history (that's where you lot live anyway) and dredge up dirty players. There were plenty of those about in those days and most teams had one or two. We're talking about now and the head-high tackle was a definite red - clenched fists and right round the chops. By the way, that 'one high tackle' in Aus cost him several games which also effected your team. Hardly and 'incident'.

I think it was reckless/desperate rather than malicious from what I saw (not watched it on telly yet for a replay) but regardless of intent isn't there a rule about last defender?

It was high and deliberate, Burns knew exactly what he was doing and should have seen Red. To me, what saved Burns was straight away Ben Crooks got up and went after Burns. If he's stayed down think it would have been a different decision.

He was looking directly at Crooks' head and his arm was well above his own shoulder when he swung it in malicious and full of intent, 10mins minimum.

Karma came around quickly though.

Crap tackle hopefully he'll get done by the judiciary whether or not his suspension is token due to injury.

Considering Fat Boys previous for sending our players off for high tackles I should have been surprised (but wasn't as it is Fat Boy afterall) when he didn't send Burns off as it was as blatant a high shot as you can get. The way he swung his arm was only ever going to end up in his face and it was deliberate IMO. I'd love to know what Fat Boys criteria is for sending off a player for a high shot because I'm sure that one would tick all the boxes.
