Can't see chase coming and why would we shell out for clarke when we have heremia and at least 2 good prospects at hooker in the u18's/u20's?

Also wouldnt want heremaia as 1st choice halfback

(imho) I think that if Chase was not coming to FC, then it would have been announced by now.
The period of extended negotiations has well past, and nothing is said.

If it had been bad news, then I would think the club would want to get it out of the way as soon as possible.

My opinion would be that he has already signed, or that the club think the chances are good to still be in negotiations.

If it's anything like his fullback positioning, he probably doesn't know.

Think they'd only announce that Chase wasn't coming once they'd sorted a replacement. No point in giving out bad news on it's own.

My reading of the various rumours/statements is that we may be playing chicken with Cas while sorting an alternative. Hope it's settled one way or the other soon - getting fed up of the whole circus TBH.

I'd love chase to come but the club shouldn't pay over the odds. Rome wasn't built in a day and I don't expect all of our problems to be resolved in one close season so maybe we'd be better waiting it out.

We won't be signing Daryl Clarke. He's a good player but isn't needed at the club. We already have Houghton and Heremaia as our first choice hookers, plus James Cunningham.
I imagine that we'll see James Cunningham going out on a dual-registration contract for a lot of next season to give him some more experience at a higher level.

Heard whispers earlier in the year that we were trying to move heremaia on, nothing to do with his ability, just that his salary is huge and gentle didn't see value for money

I don’t think they would be able to keep it quiet, as Cas would probably let the news out.

Also, I don’t think announcing bad news with the good news of a replacement is always good policy. I think it could take some of the focus off the replacement.

I just get the feeling that maybe circumstances have changed and we've now offered O'Meley an extension. Purely based on the way he played on Saturday and the last couple of games. He looked like a much happier and more committed player to me. That could be because he's got something elsewhere but I wouldn't be surprised if a deal has been done.

Not sure about Fielden on a pay as you play, as someone mentioned earlier. Experienced players are great amongst young up and coming players but too injury prone! Waste of money IMO

A possibility is that Cas could have moved the goalpost on the transfer deal and hoping for a bidding war.
Plus AP has told them to take a run and jump.After all it's his cash that is being put up for players and he has gone to what he values the player at .Only my opinion.
