Can someone point out where Gentle has made any covering comments? Cos I haven't seen/heard any. In fact on Airlie Night yesterday not only did he not use missing players as an excuse, he was completely confident that the players available could do the job on Friday.

I don't think I've heard an covering or negative comment come out of that man's mouth once. That's rare as rockinghorse for a SL coach.

He didn`t,he just let them get on with winning.

I think Gentle comes across as an articulate,genuine person who will eventualy have us on the right track.If I was in the side tomorrow I would be up for it,no matter how many players missing.

Will actually increase performance though....

Young players making mistakes
Injuries, including at one point mysteriously having "5 half backs injured"
Not having internationals in his team
Other teams having lots of internationals
Other teams having one international
Joel Clinton
Kris Welham
Too many fixtures
Refereeing decisions (3 times)
Not having video referees
Inheriting a squad with defensive issues

An unusual one, that. IMO they look worse defensively this year than they have for a few years. I'm not normally one for resorting to stats, but the missed tackles somebody mentioned the other day would back that up, too. 7 of their players in the top 20 for missed tackles across the whole of SL, and 3 of those are new signings, including his big capture Mika in 3rd on 24. Even Welham seems to be getting worse, and looking at the stats again he's already missed 44% as many tackles as he did last year in only 1/3rd of the games.

welham is a defensive giant. He only misses tackles because justin tells him to run out of the line

You can't ask Mickey Paea, Con Mika and Joel Clinton to defend against players of the stature of Jay Pitts, Lee Radford and Josh Bowden. It's so unfair.
