Move Yeaman to right centre, where his forte is his defence, give Turner an extended run at left centre
I'd give Ellis a shot at 6 next week, and move Horne to '1'.
IMHO,Horne's short kicking game has improved, but... his passing speed is pedestrian and predictable. his long kicking game ,well....... the least said, the better.'"
Agree with this. If McKinnon is injured, we should be looking at Horne to fullback and Ellis to half back. We need his kicking game desperately. And Turner deserves his spot, he's been playing outstandingly.
Is Martin injured as well? If so, and Yeaman is fit to return, then I'd have him on the right. No-one should be able to just walk straight back into the team. Bowden played well, and is developing nicely, but I think Ogre should probably come back in for next week if fit. We don't want to rush his development and he's still got a lot to learn.

| Fwiw, at the game against Saint Helens there was a guy about 12 people down the row from me - grey hoodie, his friends were calling him Craig or Kane - that threw his pint about 3 times and kept soaking the fans below him.
edit: it didn't go anywhere near the pitch, though, obviously.

| hi all, i am a wildcats fan but was taken to the game today as a birthday treat by my cas supporting sons. i have to say as a neutral 99.9% of your fans today were fantastic and a credit to the game. it was a great atmosphere outside the ground in the boot room with both sets of fans mingling and exchanging good natured banter. we stood in the family enclosure and after the incident with owen behind the posts he was told by the match officials to go to the cheif steward who was stood only 5 yards from us. owen was pointing to his fore head but we couldn't see any cut because his hand was in the way but you could see blood dripping down onto his shirt. the first thing i looked for at the start of the 2nd half was if owen had a dressing on his head but he didn't so the damage must have been minor. i have always admired the hull fans for their away support even in the bad times but i urge you to identify the minority that are giving your club a bad name. all the best for the future as i think you are yorkshires best chance of challenging the top lancashire sides in the next few years.

| I thought we were a bit scratchy, first half poor and second half better. Cas to be fair played with lots of enthusiasm and agression and made it really tough. Defensively we were off and in attack we tried to play too much rugby early without winning the middle of the pitch.
Nice to score 42 points away from without really clicking but disappointing to concede 28.
Sharp, Turner, Manu and Tickle were all excellent and Bowden had has best game yet.

Good summary that Paul totally agree. I think it was also notable around all the games played yesterday that lots of points were scored, I think it was to do with the conditions. It was the 1st Sunday this year were the sun was out and teams really started to play more expansive stuff and it would appear that on the whole attacks outplayed defences. If that makes any sense.

That's a really good point actually, never thought of that. Yeah plenty of points all over yesterday and on a weekend full of shocks it was pleasing we got the win.
Hope we can beat Bulls this week and go into easter full of confidence.

Think I explained my reasoning pretty well for the Ogre switch. Bowden played well, but when we say "well", are we thinking "well for a youngster" or "well compared to everyone else"? I think we all know the answer to that. He's still in his early days of development, so let's not rush him. He's not played well enough to keep O'Meley out just yet!
Turner on the other hand has been a real stand out. Breaking the line, showing some great speed and putting in decent ball for Briscoe. I think to drop him would send out the wrong message. In fact, I think keeping him in sends out all the right messages to the squad.

He is, but has a short fuse and is prone to be greedy. Him and Yeamo in the same team would be too much
Having said that he kept Cas in it yesterday. All 5 of their tries came through him at some point.

Me too. He might have been on the losing side, but he offered more in attack than either of our half backs yesterday.

| it amazed me that Chase was still on the pitch for the full 80 mins to be honest, should of gone for 10 when he used Whiting as a punch bag. He should of also walked for his forearm smash on Will Sharp when he had tackled him to the ground, think it was Tickle who saw the cheap shot as he was trying to get the linesman attention but nowt came of it.
As someone mentioned earlier he's a bit of a maverick but i think he'd win you more games then he'd cost you.

I can understand where you were coming from, but I just think there's still a bit of inconsistency about it. Some players do come straight back into the side as they are clearly amongst the best you have, and IMO Yeaman still falls into that category as much as O'Meley for us. Once he's 100% fit, he should play for me.
Admittedly I didn't see yesterday's game, but whilst Turner played well against Widnes I still didn't think he stood out particularly and had a hand in both tries conceded, but there was the eye-catching try against Saints. Contrary to what some people have posted I've seen little new this year compared to last year, he's always looked very good with ball in hand but questionable in defence. We've just been more on the front foot recently so it's the stronger part of his game that is primarily on display. So in a similar way to how you highlight with Bowden, is it played "well compared to what we're used to" or "well compared to everyone else"? I'd lean towards your view on the Bowden situation on this one too, that he's played well but not so well that he should keep Yeaman out just yet.
I wouldn't have a problem with Turner keeping his place if he continues to do well, I'm just saying that I'd quite understand why we'd bring Yeaman straight back, too. I'm looking forward to the Bradford game, if the right Bradford side turn up we might be able to really see where Turner is at with his defence, as they have a decent right hand side when they get going IMO.

| I know things have moved on and the game is professional etc but chase threw 3/4 punches at whiting yesterday without reply and not one of his team mates kicked off. Can you imagine back in the day him throwing punches at knocker with Crooks, Skerrit, Topliss,Crane on the pitch. I know i'll get slated but I was a disapointed really as I think it shows unity within the group, one for all an all for one.
