Quote ="alexwest"Conditions yesterday as we all know were dire and we got the 2pts,but I have seen all 4 games this season, and I dont see a great deal of improvement, other than we do seem more organised.
Lets be honest, warrington, we played the best we have played this season and were unlucky not to win, london,we were very poor against a very poor side, but scraped a win, salford are a much improved team but if we have any pretentions of the top 4 or better, surely these are games we must win and on the day they were better than us. Yesterday we finished hanging on against another poor side, who with the weight of possession we should have killed off as we should with london in the first half. Before you all jump on my case,on the face of it 5pts out of 8 looks ok,but shaun mcrae saying "we could be the hottest ticket in superleague",I would say I hope your right but I just dont see it.!'"
5 points of of 8 is just about where I expected us to be before the season started. I expected a defeat to Wire at home, but us to beat Salford away.
If we had played like we have on firm pitches in decent weather, I would probably be a bit more critical and asking a few more questions, but you simply can't play attacking rugby successfully in the snow/sleet and our attacking play has been more conservative as a result.
As I have said in another thread, Saints on Friday gives us a better indication of where we are. I don't expect a win (our record there is shocking) but if we run them close I'd be confident that we can beat some of the big teams at home and get a top6 spot.
