| A good start!
Hopeful of an improved 2012, Silverware may take longer!
I think Adam has made a solid start. The top level clear out, starting with Agar was essential. The subtle return to Sunday fixtures, irregular hoops etc all add to the feel good factor.
I think we need to be realistic of what AP can achieve. The whole contractual/salry cap model means you can't make sweeping changes to a squad, so often seen in Football and lets remember several deals had already been signed before he took over in July. Therefore, we should remain patient and trust that our squad continues to improve in 2013 and 2014. Saying that, I still expect AP to sort out the Euro, bring the country out of recession and deliver World Peace by Christmas!

| I was 100% optimistic until the Martin and Aspinwall signings. Then I felt a little underwhelmed.
Having said that, just getting rid of Fubar, Uncle Kath and J Tool is such a massive "plus" that I really shouldn't try to find any negatives at all.

| I'm willing to right off this year as a chance to make the relevant changes to our squad which the last regime left us with. Allow some youngsters to come through the ranks would be my preference so we can get rid of some of our average players, as this imo has set us back years with Agars reluctance to play the youngsters.
To many average cr^p on decent money with no youth who we know can cut the mustard at super league level has resulted in us having a salary cap issues imo and signing the likes of Burnett, Aspinwall and Martin on 1 year deals which are short term fixes for this year.
Next year will be a big year as we have some decent players at the ends of there contracts o'meley, moa the above players etc with the hopeful development of our youngsters it will give us a bit more flexibility with the salary cap but we need to be shrewd.
New coach and assistants, new board and more importantly new ideas with plenty of feedback from the camp seems to bode well, give a good account of ourselves and be more consistent this year if we can is all I’d ask for then really stamp our authority the years after.
I'm up for the change and the ride for the next few years as I’ve had to put up watching some right over the past 4 years and it can't get any worse, surly?

That about sums it up for me,anywhere from 6th or above and a visible improvement in the way we play,a plan B when things obviously aren't working and not crumbling due to lack of ideas and intensity against the top end teams and i'll be happy. I don't think anyones expecting to be topping the table (despite the rovers fans claiming we'll have said we did).

Seb, dont worry too much about these two, Martin will be trying to prove a point and Aspinwall, according to Bomber is the rough edge we needed in the middle! At the meet the coach session, Gentle said Aspinwall is shaking some bones in training and everyone is giving him a wide berth, hard as nails. Have faith. I'm just pleased we have been promised more than 5 drives and a kick this season!!

I agree, personally i always thought Martin was a very decent player and knows his way to the line, wasnt he called once the best player never to have worn green and gold??
think he may make a few eat their words but anyway he is clearly a stop gap BUT hope he runs riot and earns another contract and given he was possibly in the top three players in a poor crusaders team i think he may surprise a few.
Aspinwall?? if he plays half to his potential he will be a great signing , great hands hard as nails and just fits the bill in a thin squad in my opinion
very happy with how we look

Hope thats true, great to hear though!!! I always liked him as a player and always thought he looked a proper handful !
I remember watching him on TV SL get nailed on the button with a right hook by Westwood and gave 10 fold in reply without flinching!! I think he may turn into a real fans favourite....
Listen all last season everyone wanted rid of kath, the board, the coaches and half the squad and thats exactly what everyone got so there is no need to be unhappy just give Gentle time to do his thing and turn things around.
Has anyone watched em train yet ???

| This is the first season I've looked forward to for a while. The last three or four years, going to rugby has become a chore, something I went to because I always had done, rather than going because I enjoyed it.
I think our squad for next season has a really good balance to it and obvious weaknesses seem to have been addressed with decent recruitment (we have an actual scrum half and a kicking game next year!).
Due to the high number of changes to the squad and the fixture list, I think we may struggle for results early in the season.Ride this storm, keep improving and hopefully peak towards the business end of the season. Leeds & Saints last year proved that finishing in the top 2 doesn't guarantee you a grand final place.

| I don't think the squad is good enough to seriously challenge. I hope we start to see some consistency and a big culture change throughout the club and for us to have a positive season that doesn't fizzle out like teh last few.
I'm just glad agar and his financial vampire auntie has finally gone

| While it is understandable, I'm not sure hoping to do OK next year in preparation for a big year in 2013 stacks up. In my opinion, now Agar's gone and we have some half backs, we should aspire to big improvements in 2012 and see where it takes us.
This is because it may be wishful thinking to think we'll have a better squad in 2013. All the evidence points to it getting extremely hard to sign good players, and if you adhere to the salary cap having a highly ambitious or wealthy owner doesn't get us away from that. The top class Aussie player market is becoming dead, many top English players are on long contracts with good clubs, and we could potentially lose Briscoe and Moa, who will be difficult to replace.
Therefore the keys to success are the coaching and youth policy. Hopefully the coaching will have a quick impact, but the youth policy may take a while to turn around and bear fruit. Although now Agar is gone, there may be some hope that we could be suprised by some of our younger players.

| I can now watch FC and I expect to see an improvement in the utter crud that has been passed off to us in recent years. I remember our early years of super league, not too good but they tried then Bomber came and entertaining open rugby. OK we got beat, but I always left feeling I had been entertained. In recent years we where treated to dire diet of 4 drives and a poor kick with a side order of spin, in fact spin seemed to be served at every opportunity. Many sucked it in and speaking out against those who saved us was not very popular in some circles, being against the past regime was being UNFAITHFUL in many peoples eyes.
We have a new start , with new values and we must forget the last few years and move on. Its not going to be easy as the legacy of the old masters is very much alive within the clubs playing staff, the new coach is hampered by the buys of the old and he will have to work with what he has.
Peter Gentle was the assistant coach to the Aussie National Team, think about that the greatest rugby league team is without any question the Aussie national team and we have the man was 2nd in command ................exciting it has to be. Sure he is not a fully tested coach in super league, HE IS NOT ON HIS OWN THERE IS HE . Its going to take time to build the right squad, its not going to happen next season and we should not expect it too. Anyone thinking we could be sitting in the Stratford end come October watching the team run out is going to be a tad upset. I want to see progress, a team trying, throwing the ball around, camping out on the oppositions line and actually turning the pressure into points.
Hell we may even have a 40/20 or 2
Excited, gawd I am wetting myself not for next year but the years ahead and all the talent coming through the ranks instead of having rugby coached out of them.
